Building on the achievements of the 2020-2025 term, the agricultural sector of Dak Lak province is implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, with a focus on developing ecological, circular, transparent, high-tech agriculture linked to digital transformation...
This is not only a strategic direction to effectively exploit potential and strengths, but also an inevitable trend towards bringing Vietnamese agricultural products to the world .
Agriculture - a bright spot in the economy
Implementing the Resolution of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, despite facing many difficulties such as: the rapidly changing, complex, and unpredictable global and regional situation; the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic; adjustments to tax and financial policies of major countries; high prices of input materials and raw materials, while the prices of some key agricultural products of the province have not met expectations; and unusual weather patterns that have directly affected the province's development process…

However, with the close leadership and guidance of the Central Government, the attention and support of ministries and sectors, and especially the entire Party Committee and people of all ethnic groups in the province, they have upheld revolutionary traditions, seized opportunities and advantages, overcome difficulties and challenges, united, determined, and strived to achieve important and comprehensive results in all fields, especially the economic sector.
The economies of Dak Lak and Phu Yen provinces (before the merger) maintained a relatively high growth rate, with their economic scale expanding steadily . The average GRDP growth rate (at constant prices) for the period 2021-2025 reached approximately 6.24% per year, with Dak Lak achieving 6.31% per year and Phu Yen achieving 6.1% per year, higher than the national average.
According to Nguyen Minh Huan, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province, the highlight of the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector is its relatively rapid development towards high quality and sustainability, playing a "pillar" role in maintaining the growth rate and expanding the scale of the province's economy. The average growth rate of the agricultural sector during the 2021-2025 period reached 5.24% per year, 1.5 times higher than the national average. Within the agricultural sector's structure, crop production continues to dominate, contributing 70% of the total value of the sector.

According to Nguyen Thien Van, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Lak province, Dak Lak is the "coffee capital" of the country with an area of approximately 213,000 hectares and an annual production of around 545,000 tons, accounting for 30-35% of the country's total coffee production. For many years, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province has been a pioneer in implementing programs to develop high-quality coffee, promote sustainable replanting, and enhance the value of the supply chain.
Since 2008, the province has implemented many important projects; in particular, Dak Lak's coffee growing area has achieved the world's first 4C-EUDR certification for non-deforestation products from the European Union, and has now digitized 35% of the province's coffee growing area. The geographical indication for Buon Ma Thuot coffee has been protected in 32 countries and territories, becoming a global symbol of the quality and prestige of Vietnamese coffee.

In addition, Dak Lak is focusing on exploiting its potential and strengths in natural conditions, climate, soil, and market to strongly develop high-value industrial crops and fruit trees, thereby promoting rapid and sustainable agricultural development and improving the lives of the people. Among these, durian stands out; to date, the province has over 40,000 hectares of durian plantations, with a projected yield of over 420,000 tons in the 2024-2025 crop year, making it one of the leading provinces in terms of durian area and production nationwide.
With high productivity and quality, averaging 20-25 tons/ha, and export prices of 60-70 million VND/ton depending on the time of year, durian trees have helped thousands of farmers in Dak Lak become millionaires and billionaires.

With the significant contribution of the agricultural sector, the total GRDP at current prices has reached approximately VND 913,014 billion over the past five years, with an average annual growth rate of 11.8%; by 2025, it is projected to reach VND 230,662 billion, 1.75 times higher than in 2020. People's lives are increasingly improving, and GRDP per capita is significantly higher than in the previous period.
By the end of 2025, the average GRDP per capita of Dak Lak province (formerly) will reach 81.76 million VND/year, and Phu Yen province (formerly) will reach 78.60%/year; the poverty rate in the province will decrease to approximately 2.08%, and the poverty rate among ethnic minority households will decrease to approximately 10.06%...
Towards a green, circular, and transparent economy.
Following the provincial merger, Dak Lak opened up a vast development space from East to West, encompassing both forests and seas, two fundamental elements that create a diverse and sustainable ecosystem. Leveraging this advantage, the province reshaped its economic structure, with agriculture identified as the key sector, playing a pivotal role in its green growth strategy.
The Resolution of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term identifies the development of ecological, high-tech agriculture linked with digital transformation as a key task. This is not only a strategic direction to effectively exploit potential and strengths, but also an inevitable trend to bring Vietnamese agricultural products to the world.

According to the orientation of the Resolution of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, the province will restructure agriculture towards green development , low emissions, strong application of science and technology and digital transformation in all stages of production. At the same time, it will re-plan concentrated production areas specializing in key products such as coffee, pepper, rubber, fruit trees and aquaculture.
Encourage and promote the development of production models based on closed value chains between farmers, cooperatives, and businesses to increase productivity and quality, reduce environmental impact, and improve economic efficiency. Promote research, application, and technology transfer, and enhance mechanization and automation in harvesting and processing.
Calling for investment in deep processing centers for coffee, agricultural products, and seafood, aiming to reduce raw exports, increase value, and reduce emissions in order to enhance brand image, contribute to the circular economy, and conserve resources.
In addition, the province will focus on developing the agricultural processing industry, logistics systems, warehousing and transportation facilities that meet international standards, creating conditions for Dak Lak's agricultural products to assert their position and reach further in the global market.

To overcome the shortcomings and limitations that the province's agricultural sector has faced for many years, such as fragmented production, low productivity, and inconsistent technology application, Dak Lak is focusing on technological innovation and the development of deep processing to enhance the value of agricultural products. The Phu Yen High-Tech Agricultural Zone currently attracts 9 investment projects with a total registered capital of over 524 billion VND, focusing on cultivation, processing of agricultural products and food, and high-tech seed production.
In the western part of the province, in addition to Hoa Phu Industrial Park and other industrial clusters, in March 2025, KDI Holdings Group commenced construction of the infrastructure for Phu Xuan Industrial Park located in Cuor Dang commune, covering an area of 313 hectares.
The Head of the Dak Lak Provincial Industrial Parks Management Board, Dinh Xuan Dieu, expressed his hope that when this industrial park becomes operational, it will not only become an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors but also play a particularly important role in strongly shifting from exporting raw agricultural products to exporting refined products, applying high technology, and attracting investment in food processing with high added value, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province…

Along with local efforts, many businesses have pioneered in shaping green, organic, and transparent production models for sustainable development. A prime example is the 2/9 Dak Lak Export One-Member Limited Liability Company (Simexco).
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Deputy General Director of Simexco Dak Lak, said: To date, the company has built a network linking with 50,000 farming households, forming a raw material area that meets EUDR standards (farming without deforestation as stipulated by the EU). At the same time, the company has also applied comprehensive digital transformation from supply chain management and traceability to e-commerce, helping farmers improve competitiveness and expand into demanding markets.
Chairman of the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Association, Trinh Duc Minh, stated: Based on the province's orientation for the development of the coffee industry in the 2025-2030 period, the Association will proactively propose and contribute to improving mechanisms and policies on regenerative agriculture, reducing emissions, and meeting EUDR regulations; promoting the production and business of coffee with Buon Ma Thuot geographical indication certification, sustainable coffee, specialty coffee, and deeply processed coffee.
At the same time, the Association will apply Industry 4.0 technology, enhance traceability and quality control from farm to cup; encourage members to adopt circular economy models, contributing to the realization of Dak Lak province's Sustainable Coffee Development Plan with a vision to 2030 and the Vietnam Specialty Coffee Development Plan for the period 2021-2030…

Entering a new term with many advantages, opportunities, new development spaces and resources, as well as difficulties and challenges, especially climate change and increasingly complex and serious natural disasters, which greatly affect the sustainable development of the province, particularly agriculture.
Anticipating these challenges, with a strategic vision, synchronized policies, and the joint efforts of businesses and the people, Dak Lak province is gradually realizing its goals towards developing a green, organic, circular, transparent, and sustainable agriculture.
