In the days leading up to the 33rd SEA Games, Supachalasai Stadium (Bangkok), one of Bangkok's long-standing sports icons, is entering the final stages of completion to prepare for athletics events.

Before Rajamangala Stadium became Thailand's national stadium, this role belonged to Supachalasai until Thailand hosted the 1998 Asian Games and built a new Rajamangala Stadium with a larger capacity to replace it. According to the announcement of the Thai organizing committee, the athletics at the 33rd SEA Games will be arranged to compete from December 11 to 16, athletes will compete for 5 days and have a full day off on Sunday, December 14.

Located in the heart of Bangkok, Supachalasai Stadium with its rich history and modern equipment system will be the venue for athletics events at the 33rd SEA Games.

Men's football, athletics and swimming have always been the strengths of Vietnamese sports . Therefore, Rajamangala and Supachalasai stadiums will certainly be the two venues that attract the most attention from Vietnamese fans during the SEA Games.

The stands were also equipped with additional lighting, and electronic notice boards were tested continuously to avoid errors during the competition day. The movement of athletes was rerouted, and new signs were installed according to the identity of the 33rd SEA Games.

Supachalasai Stadium is located in the heart of Bangkok, on the campus of Chulalongkorn University - one of the most prestigious schools in Thailand.

At the 32nd SEA Games in 2023, the Vietnamese athletics team won 12 gold medals. Coming to this congress in Thailand, the team's goal is still to maintain its position in the top group of the region.

Vietnam's athletics team led the SEA Games in three consecutive editions in 2017, 2019 and 2022. But at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, Thailand rose to regain the top spot with 14 gold medals.
