Yesterday, December 5, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology announced on its website and Facebook fanpage that it had discovered a fake application bearing the school's name (e-HUTECH) on the multi-platform application store APKPure and unofficial application stores.
This fake application was discovered by the school's Information Technology Management Center, using the school's name and logo, and at first glance, it looks no different from the real application.

Experts warn that the fake application of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (right) contains malicious code.

Master Nguyen Thi Xuan Dung, Director of the Media Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said: "The school's information technology experts determined that these versions contain malicious code that can take over learning accounts, steal personal information and cause loss of control of devices... Therefore, the school has issued a notice advising teachers and students to absolutely not install e-HUTECH from unofficial sources."
According to Master Xuan Dung, the school's official e-HUTECH app is only released on Google Play (Android) and App Store (iOS) by "Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH)".
"If you have installed a fake version, please remove the application immediately, change the password of your e-HUTECH account and other accounts, and check your device for any unusual signs," the school's notice noted.
Master Xuan Dung said that to ensure safety, students and lecturers should only install school applications from Google Play or App Store, not share application download links from unauthenticated sources, update information from the school's official channel and carefully check the origin before installing the application.
Not long ago, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology was also impersonated by a bad guy on the school's Facebook fanpage to post information about recruiting lecturers. Some candidates thought it was real and submitted their applications online, then joined a Zalo chat group of the impersonator pretending to be a human resources officer to carry out recruitment procedures. However, the candidates were lured into paying money to develop a school project with promises of profits and guaranteed positions as lecturers.
The school representative confirmed that recruitment information, all interviews, and official application reception will only be conducted at the school's main office.
