Ms. Sa Thi Hang, residing in Doan Ket residential area, Au Lau ward, is classified as near-poor, lacking a stable occupation, and her husband passed away early. Due to her circumstances, she has to shoulder the burden of raising a grandchild. Therefore, her family's life is always a struggle, with difficulties piling up. In light of this reality, guided by the principle of "giving a fishing rod, not a fish," the Women's Union of Au Lau ward provided Ms. Hang with chicken breeds to develop poultry farming, creating a sustainable livelihood and improving her income.

With livelihood support from the Women's Union, Ms. Sa Thi Hang, residing in Doan Ket residential area, Au Lau ward, has risen out of near-poverty.
Ms. Sa Thi Hang shared: "Thanks to the constant care, encouragement, and support from the Women's Union at all levels, my family has escaped poverty. Thank you to the Union for creating opportunities for me to have a stable livelihood and confidently strive for a better life."
Over the years, working together towards the goal of multidimensional and sustainable poverty reduction, the Women's Union of Au Lau ward has coordinated with various departments and agencies to organize many activities aimed at supporting and enhancing women's economic empowerment.
In particular, the Association actively coordinated the organization of many training courses to improve knowledge in livestock farming and crop cultivation, and facilitated the exchange of experiences in economic development for its female members. It also coordinated the dissemination of information and provided advice to help women develop initiative and creativity, improve their skills and abilities, and apply information technology in production and business development to meet the requirements of international integration. Furthermore, it coordinated the implementation of entrusted loan programs, support for seedlings and livestock, and the distribution of savings accounts.
During the period 2021-2025, the Women's Union of Au Lau Ward supported 25 savings accounts, each with 2-5 million VND, for poor women members in difficult circumstances. In coordination with the Social Policy Bank, they effectively implemented entrusted lending activities, with a total outstanding loan balance of over 40 billion VND, helping nearly 2,000 households access capital for economic development, clean water construction, and environmental sanitation…
Activities supporting women's economic empowerment have contributed to Au Lau ward's successful poverty reduction efforts during the 2021-2025 period. The ward's poverty reduction rate has averaged 3% per year. To date, the poverty rate in Au Lau ward is only 0.05%.
Similar to Au Lau ward, to help women members overcome multidimensional poverty sustainably, the Women's Union of Van Phu ward has implemented many practical activities. The Union has mobilized the establishment of 22 cooperative groups in livestock farming, trading essential goods, hairdressing, and tailoring services. They have also encouraged women members to contribute funds to help poor women eliminate temporary housing, including providing 3 savings accounts totaling 12 million VND. In coordination with the Social Policy Bank, they have facilitated loans for members, poor and near-poor households, and those who have escaped poverty to create jobs, develop the economy, and support national target programs on clean water and sanitation, and student loans, totaling 53 billion VND.
Practical approaches at the grassroots level have contributed to the outstanding results of the women's movement working together for the goal of multidimensional and sustainable poverty reduction throughout the province in recent years. From 2021 to the present, the Lao Cai Provincial Women's Union has supported 307 economic development models with a total budget of over 1.4 billion VND; the various levels of the Union have helped 2,760 households escape poverty and near-poverty; and coordinated vocational training and job creation for nearly 10,000 members. This has contributed to improving the lives and increasing the income of people in disadvantaged areas, while affirming the role of women in the province's journey towards multidimensional and sustainable poverty reduction.

Women's Union branches at all levels throughout the province regularly delve into and closely monitor the situation at the grassroots level to provide timely support and encouragement to families and members facing difficult circumstances.

In reality, the diverse and rich activities of the Women's Union at all levels in the province have had a profound impact, helping women throughout the province confidently develop their inner strength and cooperate to move forward. With a clear direction and synchronized efforts, the women's movement to collectively reduce multidimensional and sustainable poverty in Lao Cai will continue to spread strongly, becoming an important driving force for promoting local socio-economic development.
