By the night of December 3rd and the early morning of December 4th, the Binh Thuan Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited – Tuy Phong Branch announced a flood discharge rate of up to 1,117 m3/s, causing widespread flooding and damage in the downstream area.
According to preliminary statistics, Lien Huong commune suffered heavy losses with 26 boats sinking at the river mouth, of which 12 have been salvaged; 32 boats whose anchors broke and drifted out to sea have been towed back to safe anchorage with the assistance of the Border Guard.
The rising water also submerged many houses in hamlets 1 and 2 of Phuoc The, with water levels reaching 1-1.5 meters, causing damage to crops and sweeping away livestock and poultry.
