Lam Dong: Lake releases floodwaters at night, 1,000 households deeply flooded

In the early morning of December 4, Song Long Song reservoir (Lam Dong province) discharged floodwater with a flow rate of up to 1,200m³/second, causing widespread flooding, affecting more than 1,000 households, sweeping away many properties, and causing initial damage estimated at over 30 billion VND.

According to the People's Committee of Lien Huong commune, the rapid rise in floodwaters caused 38 fishing boats to sink, their anchors broken and drifting to Lien Huong port. In hamlets 1 and 2, more than 1,000 houses were flooded to a depth of 1-1.5 meters, disrupting people's lives overnight.

The agricultural area along the two banks of Long Song River (in the old communes of Phu Lac and Phuoc The) also recorded more than 100 hectares of production land flooded over 1.5 meters deep, many livestock and poultry were swept away.

Many areas of Lien Huong commune were flooded.

Currently, local authorities are urgently calculating the damage and mobilizing forces to support people to overcome the consequences.
