
On December 4, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Province Hydrometeorological Station Nguyen Sy Thoai said that due to the influence of the tropical depression, in the coming time, heavy rain will continue to appear in a large area in the province, with rainfall exceeding 150 mm in some places.
The meteorological agency warned that the risk of flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas is very high and very dangerous. Therefore, localities must heighten vigilance and proactively respond effectively.
Khanh Hoa Province's Hydrometeorological Station also issued a warning of heavy rain across the province, directly affecting 19 communes and wards.
It is forecasted that from December 4 onwards, Khanh Hoa will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain and thunderstorms, with total rainfall of 40-80 mm/period, some places will have over 150 mm/period. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind, with a risk of heavy rain over 60 mm/3 hours.
Specifically, the areas of wards and communes such as Dai Lanh, Van Ninh, Dong Ninh Hoa, Tay Ninh Hoa, Khanh Vinh, Tay Khanh Vinh, Dien Khanh, Nha Trang and Thuan Nam have rainfall of 40-80 mm/period, in some places over 100 mm/period. The areas of communes Khanh Son, Bac Ai, Ninh Son, Phan Rang, Cam Ranh, Cam Lam, Ninh Hai, Thuan Bac and Ninh Phuoc have rainfall of 40-70 mm/period, in some places over 150 mm/period.
Khanh Hoa Province Hydrometeorological Station warns that heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds can cause roofs to be blown off, trees to be broken, and people and animals to be injured. Due to the influence of the tropical depression, the sea off the coast of Khanh Hoa has waves 2-4 meters high. Ships operating in these areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, strong winds, and large waves.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Anh Minh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Nha Trang Ward (Khanh Hoa Province), said that due to the influence of a tropical depression, there was heavy rain in the area. On the morning of December 4, the water level rose and caused flooding in 3 residential groups.
To cope with the floods, the Ward People's Committee has temporarily stopped providing support to people affected by the historic floods at the end of November (November 16-22). At the same time, it has deployed a plan and arranged a force of over 100 people to be on duty at 5 locations of the ward; and evacuated households in the area of 3 residential groups this morning.
Mr. Phan Van Tri, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Dien Commune (Khanh Hoa Province), said that due to rising river water and flooding in some areas, the People's Committee of the commune has notified students in the area to stay home from school on the morning of December 4 to ensure the safety of people's lives and property and to proactively focus on responding.
In Lam Son commune (Khanh Hoa province), Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, Mr. Dinh Van Tri, said that on the afternoon of December 2, heavy rain also caused landslides at Song Pha pass (also known as Ngoan Muc pass, the section passing through Lam Son commune) on National Highway 27. Local authorities have sent forces to stand guard, block the road, and prevent people and vehicles from traveling on this route.
In the Doc Ran area on Provincial Road 9, from Ha Nit village to Apa 1 village, Tay Khanh Son commune, heavy rain also caused landslides, temporarily cutting off traffic.
According to the forecast of Khanh Hoa Province Hydrometeorological Station, in the next 24 hours, there will be a flood on rivers in the province, with the flood peak above and below alert level 1; especially Cai Phan Rang River at Tan My station and Cai Nha Trang River at Dien Phu station will be above and below alert level 2.
Khanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station warns that the risk of flash floods and landslides in communes and wards such as Van Hung, Van Thang, Dai Lanh, Tay Ninh Hoa, Dong Ninh Hoa, Suoi Hiep, Cam Lam, Cam An, Suoi Cat, Bac Khanh Vinh, Tay Khanh Vinh, Trung Khanh Vinh, Khanh Son, Dong Khanh Son, Tay Khanh Son, Lam Son, Bac Ai Tay, Bac Ai, Bac Ai Dong, Ninh Son... is very high; the risk of localized flooding in some low-lying areas in some communes and wards such as Dien Khanh, Suoi Hiep, Dien Dien, Bac Nha Trang, Nha Trang, Tay Nha Trang, Nam Nha Trang, Phan Rang, Bao An, Ninh Phuoc, Phuoc Dinh, Phuoc Hau, Phuoc Huu, Ninh Phuoc, Thuan Nam, Cam Ranh... is unavoidable.
