Heavy rain in Ho Chi Minh City and the South due to increased cold air

Over the past 1-2 days, Ho Chi Minh City and many southern provinces have experienced heavy rain and strong winds. The cause was determined to be the strengthening of cold air from the North combined with disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone.

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, on the morning of December 4, monitoring through satellite cloud images, weather radar and lightning positioning showed that areas of thunderstorms developed strongly, causing widespread showers and thunderstorms in many communes and wards in Ho Chi Minh City. Rainfall was generally from 15-45mm, some places over 50mm; accompanied by strong gusts of wind.

Thunderstorms are forecast to continue in the next few days in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces, with the Southeast region likely to see more rain.

Analyzing the weather phenomenon on the afternoon of December 3 and the morning of December 4 that caused the sky to darken and rain heavily in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Le Dinh Quyet, Head of Weather Forecast Department - Southern Hydrometeorological Station, said that the cold air from the North was strengthened with strong intensity, combined with the cold continental high pressure and disturbances existing in the Southern region, causing the above weather conditions.
