Immediately after merging the two communes of Mo Vang and An Luong (old), the People's Committee of Mo Vang commune has completed the Steering Committee of the Sustainable Forestry Development Program; built internal rules, working regulations and assigned specific tasks to 38 members. At the same time, the commune strengthened the Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Team (PCCCR) with 156 members and 16 PCCCR teams in 16 villages with a total of 448 people.
The PCCCR plan has been developed in detail, combining patrolling, monitoring with quick response when forest fires occur. The Commune People's Committee has issued decisions, plans, official dispatches and instructions on forest management and protection, focusing on inspection and handling of violations of forest land, illegal exploitation of forest products, management of forest tree varieties, wildlife and monitoring of forest resource developments.
Mr. Do Cao Quyen - Chairman of Mo Vang Commune People's Committee said: "Forest protection is not only a state management task but also the responsibility of the whole community. The common goal is to maintain the green color of the forest and ensure sustainable livelihoods for the people".
In forest protection work, forest protection teams (FPTs) in villages and hamlets always play a core role. They directly patrol, monitor, detect violations and mobilize people to participate. Thanks to that, the forest protection force at the grassroots level always upholds the spirit of responsibility.

Mr. Nong Van Binh - Head of Khe Trau village, Head of the forest protection team shared: “We were born and raised next to the forest, so our love for the forest is great. Each person is like the “ears and eyes” of the forest. Each patrol is an opportunity to promptly prevent acts of deforestation, encroachment on forest land or illegal exploitation. The whole village is clearly aware that protecting the forest means protecting the lives of ourselves and our children.”
Patrols have become a routine job for forest rangers.
Mr. Ly Van Dong - a member of the Khe Trau village forest protection team said: "We patrol regularly, take full notes and report immediately when we detect unusual signs. Thanks to the consensus and close coordination of the people, forest protection work has achieved more sustainable results."
Mo Vang Commune is assigning 5,135 hectares of natural forest (nearly 470 hectares of special-use forest, 1,982 hectares of protective forest, and more than 2,600 hectares of production forest) to 16 villages. The assignment helps increase community responsibility and at the same time improve the effectiveness of monitoring and handling violations.
The Commune Steering Committee coordinates with the forest rangers to regularly provide professional guidance to forest protection teams, ensuring that patrols and inspections are carried out in accordance with regulations. In the first 10 months of 2025, the commune organized 32 patrols, promptly detected and handled violations, and limited illegal deforestation and exploitation of forest products.

Propaganda work was carried out in a variety of ways: village meetings, loudspeakers, direct propaganda to each household and signing of forest protection commitments. Warning signs and forest fire forecast boards were installed in key areas. Many traditional cultural activities also incorporated propaganda content, creating a wide spread. Thanks to that, people raised awareness, actively participated in patrolling, monitoring and reporting violations.
Mo Vang Commune implements the motto of forest fire prevention and fighting: “prevention is the main thing, fire fighting must be timely”, deployed according to the principle of “4 on-site”: forces, means, command and on-site logistics. Each village has a shock team ready to coordinate with the police, military , forest rangers and the Commune People’s Committee to quickly handle situations.

Violations are handled seriously. Working groups regularly conduct inspections to promptly detect and prevent acts that negatively impact the forest. Areas of previously illegally planted trees have been removed, returning the land to natural forest regeneration.

In the coming time, Mo Vang commune will continue to promote propaganda and education on forest protection laws; strictly manage existing natural forest areas; enhance the role of community forest management boards, forest protection teams and village forces; maintain patrols according to regulations; properly implement forest protection contracts; promptly reward collectives and individuals with achievements; strengthen coordination between the police, military and forest rangers in forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting.
With strong leadership and synchronous and effective implementation solutions, Mo Vang continues to maintain the "great green color", preserve sustainable livelihoods for people and protect the living environment for today's and future generations.
