Central region faces risk of storm No. 16 in the next few days

According to the meteorological agency, around December 6 or 7, there will be a tropical depression entering the East Sea and could strengthen into storm number 16.

At a regular press conference on the morning of December 4 held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in Hanoi, a representative of the Department of Hydrometeorology informed that currently, in the eastern sea of ​​the central Philippines, there is a tropical depression, moving slowly in a northwest direction.

Vietnam's Hydrometeorological Agency forecasts that around December 6-7, the tropical depression is likely to pass through the central region of the Philippines and enter the East Sea, and will strengthen into a storm (storm number 16).

The storm is then likely to directly affect the mainland of the Central Central and South Central regions, causing moderate to heavy rain from Hue City to Khanh Hoa area.

The Department of Hydrometeorology also informed that in December 2025, in the Central Central and South Central regions, there is a possibility of 1-2 widespread moderate and heavy rains, in which rainfall in the area from South Quang Tri to the North of the South Central coast tends to be higher than the average of many years.

In December 2025, cold air continues to increase in frequency and intensity, and severe cold may appear in the North, but concentrated in the northern mountainous areas. Cold air continues to be active in January and February 2026, causing severe cold spells.
