Lam Dong: Floods inundate hundreds of houses, National Highway 1A is blocked

Due to the impact of heavy rain that lasted through the night of December 3 and early morning of December 4, hundreds of houses in Lam Dong province were deeply flooded, and many sections of National Highway 1A were temporarily cut off.

On the morning of December 4, Mr. Khue Khuc Ky Nguyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Song Luy Commune ( Lam Dong Province) said that heavy rain that lasted from the night of December 3 caused floodwater from upstream to flow in, inundating about 300 houses of people in Binh Nghia village.

Authorities have urgently deployed plans to evacuate people to safe places, and at the same time support the relocation of property, livestock... to limit damage. The flood also caused a section of National Highway 1A through Song Luy commune to be deeply flooded at night. By about 8 a.m. on December 4, the water had receded and traffic returned to normal.

In Hong Son commune , Mr. Le Minh Luan, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said that early in the morning of the same day, rising floodwaters had submerged many houses. The locality mobilized 2 canoes and many human resources to help evacuate people to safety.

The flood also caused the section of National Highway 1A through Gop intersection (Hong Son commune) to be deeply flooded, forcing authorities to ban vehicles from passing and guide vehicles to move along the Hoa Thang - Hoa Phu bypass route.

At the same time, due to the large amount of water flowing from upstream, reservoirs in the area such as Song Quao, Song Luy, and Song Long Song have increased the flow regulation through the spillway to ensure safety for the works when the basins of the reservoirs continue to have rain.

Move property of Song Luy commune residents to a safe place

Specifically, from 6:00 a.m. on December 4, Song Quao Lake (Ham Thuan Bac Commune) adjusted the discharge flow from 350m³/s to 500m³/s. Long Song Lake started releasing flood water from 4:30 a.m. on the same day with a flow of 1,200m³/s and may continue to increase. Song Luy Lake also adjusted the discharge flow from 100m³/s to 150m³/s, depending on the rain situation upstream.

Authorities support people of Song Luy commune to a safe area.

Binh Thuan Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited has also sent a document requesting the People's Committees of communes and wards in the downstream area to urgently notify people of proactive response plans to ensure the safety of life and property.
