Specifically, for Song Quao Lake in Ham Thuan Bac Commune, the company said that as of 3:00 p.m. on December 6, the water level was at +90.35m, 0.18m higher than the normal water level and had a tendency to decrease slowly. The water flow currently being discharged through the lake's spillway is about 45m 3 /s.
In order to maintain the reservoir's flood prevention capacity and ensure the safety of the dam, the company announced an increase in discharge from 5:00 a.m. on December 7 with an expected flow rate of 50 - 120 m3 /s.
Similarly, the water level at Song Luy reservoir as of 3:00 p.m. on December 6 reached +129.78 m, 0.28 m higher than the normal water level and is still increasing. While the current free overflow flow is 15 m 3 /s.
The company announced that from 5:00 a.m. on December 7, the water discharge flow at Song Luy Lake increased from 60 - 150m3 /s.
Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , a company representative explained that due to heavy flooding in the downstream areas of the two reservoirs in recent days, the unit has reduced discharge.
Other reservoirs have lowered water levels to safe levels so there is no new announcement yet.
The above representative added that by now, the water in the downstream areas of Song Quao and Song Luy lakes has basically receded a lot, so the company will proactively increase discharge from the morning of December 7.
"This is to continue lowering the water level in the lake to a safer level, increasing flood prevention capacity due to the risk of the upcoming low pressure period. At the same time, it will reduce flooding in the downstream area when heavy rain occurs," said a company representative.
