Military Region 5: Inspecting and directing response work to storm No. 10

(Chinhphu.vn) - In the face of the complicated developments of storm No. 10, on the afternoon of September 27, the Military Region 5 Command organized working groups to inspect and direct storm prevention and control work in some key areas of Da Nang City.

The working groups directly inspected Tho Quang Boat Dock (Son Tra Ward), Me Suot Road (Lien Chieu Ward), areas that are frequently flooded; and at the same time, grasped the situation of responding to storm No. 10 at Armored Battalion 699 ( Da Nang City Military Command), Engineer Brigade 270, Division 315 and Ky Ha Port Border Guard Station.

Through inspection, the Military Region 5 Command acknowledged and highly appreciated the proactive and positive spirit of units and localities in natural disaster prevention and control. The forces closely coordinated with local Party committees and authorities, calling on nearly 24,000 boats to take shelter; organizing the bracing of houses and reinforcement of structures; at the same time, strengthening warnings and controlling people not to go through roads at risk of landslides, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.

Units have also proactively deployed measures to ensure food and food reserves, maintain smooth communication in all situations; develop evacuation plans, relocate people from dangerous areas, and be ready to deploy when situations arise.

According to forecasts, storm No. 10 is a strong storm with a wide range of influence; the storm's circulation can cause prolonged heavy rain, with a high risk of flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas. Military Region 5 has deployed officers and soldiers of the regular army, militia and self-defense forces, along with hundreds of mobile vehicles such as cars, ships, and boats of all kinds, ready to carry out rescue missions, helping people overcome the consequences when storm No. 10 makes landfall.
