In recent days, when many localities in Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak , Gia Lai were struggling with floods, tens of thousands of houses were submerged, many families were left homeless, isolated in the middle of the sea of water, in Ho Chi Minh City, many people quietly turned to the Central region with all their sympathy.

In the city, many points of receiving necessities were set up. Each box of noodles, bag of rice, blanket, bottle of water... was collected from the hearts of the people, sent nearly 800km to support people in the Central region in times of disaster.

Central region, keep it up! Here comes the South!

These days, the headquarters of Quarter 14 on Street 1 ( Phu Tho Hoa Ward) has become a gathering place for goods that people bring to support. Many young people in the ward have asked to temporarily borrow this place to use as a warehouse for relief goods. Every hour, every day, people from all over Ho Chi Minh City continue to bring instant noodles, rice, mineral water, clothes, blankets, etc.

Inside the house, hundreds of boxes of noodles, milk, water, rice, soy sauce… were piled higher than people’s heads. That was the amount of goods the volunteer group received in just 2 days.

Ms. Thai Thuy An (31 years old), who initiated the opening of the warehouse and receiving necessities, said that the volunteer team of Phu Tho Hoa ward sent 4 containers of goods to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa . Each container contained about 70 tons of goods. It is expected that in the next 2 days, there will be 2 more shipments leaving Ho Chi Minh City to go to the people of the Central region.

According to Ms. An, every day about 10 volunteers are on duty at the warehouse to receive the goods. When loading them onto the container truck, the number of support people increases to 35-50 people. When the goods arrive in the Central region, they will be brought by local authorities to the commune People's Committee headquarters or village houses, then the militia, youth volunteers, and the army will support the transfer to each flooded and isolated area.

“Seeing the people in the Central region with water up to the roof and all their belongings lost, everyone felt sorry. What made me happy was that when I called on social media, many people responded. Each person contributed a little, gathering a large amount of necessities to send to the Central region. That is the spirit of mutual love that everyone cherishes,” Ms. An shared.

At 1 p.m. on November 22, while delivering goods, Mr. Nguyen Minh Vuong (44 years old, from Quang Tri) saw the receiving point in Phu Tho Hoa ward. He immediately stopped at a nearby grocery store to buy 4 boxes of noodles and 4 boxes of milk to contribute to everyone.

He said that in recent days, reading the news about houses being flooded, many people having to huddle on the roof for 2-3 days, he felt so heartbroken. “The gifts are not much, but I hope they will reach the people, helping them have more strength to overcome these difficult days,” Mr. Vuong shared.

Also bringing necessities to support, Ms. Dao Quyen (55 years old) said she especially sympathizes with the people of Dak Lak. The flood came so quickly that many houses were lost, leaving them unable to cope.

“I brought noodles, cakes, and milk to contribute to everyone, hoping to soon reach the people of the Central region during the flood days. The people of the South are wholeheartedly looking towards the Central region, everyone can rest assured,” said Ms. Quyen.

Use savings to buy products to support

On the morning of November 22, many people came to the headquarters of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Dinh ward) to send necessities to support people in flood-affected areas.

According to Dan Tri reporters, convoys of people brought clothes, rice, milk, etc. to the receiving point. Volunteers worked tirelessly, sorting and packing the goods to be loaded onto trucks to be transported to the Central region.

Arriving early, Tung Lam (born 2015) and his mother brought some rice and candy to support. These gifts were bought from the money Lam had saved over the past month from teaching English to children near his house and saving money for daily living expenses.

“When I saw videos of floods on social media, I felt sorry for my friends in the Central region because the floodwaters submerged their schools and swept away their livestock. I wanted to send them some rice and candy to make them happier,” Lam shared.

After giving the gifts, Lam asked his mother to stay and help the volunteers carry and arrange the goods. The enthusiasm and agility of the 5th grade student made many people here praise him.

Inside the reception area, volunteers carefully sort each package, clearly noting it so that the recipient can easily identify the items inside. The clothes are neatly arranged, labeled “men’s”, “women’s”, “children’s”…

By 12 o'clock, the number of people pouring in was so large that the headquarters of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Ho Chi Minh City temporarily stopped receiving people and guided them to move to neighboring locations.

At the Ho Chi Minh City Children's House, the atmosphere was equally bustling. People continuously brought necessities to deposit; volunteers were busy receiving, counting and sorting.

“Today after work, I stopped by the grocery store to buy a box of instant noodles to send as support, hoping that the people of Central Vietnam will soon overcome this difficult period,” said Bui Ta Nhuan (born in 1997, from Quang Ngai).

Outside, motorbikes were parked in rows, and boxes were stacked up, waiting to be moved inside. Everyone was working hard, hoping to support the people in the flooded areas.
