Preliminary statistics show that nearly 700 houses in the commune have been cut off, more than 2,600 houses have been flooded to a depth of 1-3 meters, nearly 400 houses have been flooded to a depth of over 3 meters, and many people's motorbikes and electrical appliances have been completely destroyed.

According to Vo Ba Dat, Chairman of the Son Thanh Commune People's Committee, in response to the situation, the Commune People's Committee has mobilized organizations and individuals to donate essential goods; at the same time, it has mobilized associations, benefactors, etc., to cook meals at the commune headquarters, then transport them by truck to heavily damaged areas to support people in the days after the floodwaters receded.

Ms. Tran Thi Anh Tuyet, Deputy Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Son Thanh commune, said that not only at the commune headquarters but also in residential areas not affected by flooding, people in other areas mobilized to cook meals and bring them to those in the flooded areas. Three meals a day, hot meals are delivered directly to the people. Each meal represents the kindness and compassion given to the flood victims.

In recent days, the collection point for essential goods at the former Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee Headquarters, initiated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dak Lak province, has seen a flurry of activity, with convoys of vehicles arriving and transporting goods to affected communes and wards.

Tran Ngo Kim Hao, Vice President of the Student Union of Phu Yen University, said that from November 20th, the university's Student Union mobilized 60-80 students per session to assist in loading, unloading, and sorting essential goods. The students actively participated, hoping to help the flood victims in some way.

Not only students, but also civilians and military personnel joined hands to provide support. Tran Thanh Cong, Deputy Political Officer of Company 2, 85th Infantry Battalion, 888th Infantry Regiment, Dak Lak Provincial Military Command, said that with the spirit of "serving the people," as soon as they were assigned the task, he and his comrades in the unit quickly assisted in loading and unloading goods and transporting supplies to flood-affected people as quickly as possible, contributing in some way to help them overcome this difficult period.

To support the communes affected by floods, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province has issued a plan to provide emergency essential supplies to the people. Specifically, the items needed include: rice, instant noodles, dried food, various types of biscuits, sausages, milk, and condiments such as fish sauce, cooking oil, salt, and clean water. The scope of support covers all communes and wards in the eastern part of Dak Lak province (formerly Phu Yen) and some communes in the western part of the province (formerly Dak Lak) also affected by floods.

The focus is on the 40 communes and wards where the People's Committee has just declared a state of emergency due to natural disasters. In addition, support will be concentrated on more than 20,000 households directly affected, especially in low-lying areas, riverside areas, and areas at high risk of landslides.

The Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the deployment of relief and distribution of essential goods is carried out according to the "four on-the-spot" principle; addressing the situation as the water recedes; and ensuring proactive handling of the situation according to the actual developments.

As of 6:00 AM on November 22nd, authorities had delivered the following goods to communes and wards in the eastern region: 32,858 boxes of instant noodles; 5,916 boxes of drinking water; 7,484 boxes of milk; over 11,000 cans of fish; and thousands of medical supplies and medicines. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province also received and promptly provided 6,000 boxes of milk; 1,000 boxes of confectionery; and over 14,000 servings of fast food to flood-affected people.

According to statistics from the Provincial Civil Defense Command, from November 15-21, Dak Lak province experienced very heavy and continuous rainfall over a wide area. This was the largest flood in decades, causing severe damage.
