
In recent days, Son Thanh commune has suffered heavy damage due to floods. Preliminary statistics show that nearly 700 houses in the commune were cut off, more than 2,600 houses were flooded from 1-3m, nearly 400 houses were flooded over 3m, many motorbikes and electrical appliances of the people were completely damaged.
Chairman of Son Thanh Commune People's Committee Vo Ba Dat said that, in the face of the above situation, the Commune People's Committee has mobilized organizations and individuals to donate essential goods; at the same time, mobilized associations, philanthropists... to cook rice at the commune headquarters, then used trucks to transport it to heavily damaged areas to support people in the days when the flood waters had just receded.
Ms. Tran Thi Anh Tuyet, Deputy Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Son Thanh Commune, said that not only at the commune headquarters, but also people in residential areas not affected by flooding also mobilized each other to cook rice to bring to people in flooded areas. Every day, 3 meals of hot rice are delivered to people. Each portion of rice is a heart and soul given to people in flooded areas.
In recent days, the gathering point for essential goods at the Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee Headquarters (old) launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dak Lak province has been bustling with trucks, convoys of trucks delivering goods to and transporting goods to affected communes and wards.
Tran Ngo Kim Hao, Vice President of the Student Union of Phu Yen University, said that since November 20, the Student Union has mobilized 60-80 students per session to help load, unload, and classify essential goods. The students have all actively participated with the hope of helping people in the flooded areas.
Not only students, people and military forces also joined hands to support. Mr. Tran Thanh Cong, Deputy Political Commissar of Company 2, Infantry Battalion 85, Infantry Regiment 888, Dak Lak Provincial Military Command said that with the spirit of "serving the people", as soon as he was assigned the task, he and his comrades in the unit quickly carried out support in loading and unloading goods and moving supplies to people in flood-affected areas in the fastest and earliest time, contributing to help people overcome this difficult period.

To support communes affected by floods, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province has issued a plan to support emergency necessities for the people. Specifically, the items that need support include: Rice, instant noodles, dry food, cakes of all kinds, sausages, milk and spices such as fish sauce, cooking oil, salt, clean water... The scope of support is all communes and wards of the East of Dak Lak province (formerly Phu Yen) and some communes in the West of the province (formerly Dak Lak) also affected by floods.
The focus is on 40 communes and wards that have just been declared by the People's Committee to be in a natural disaster emergency. In addition, the focus is on supporting more than 20,000 households directly affected, especially in low-lying areas, riverside areas, and areas at high risk of landslides.
The Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the implementation of relief and distribution of necessities is carried out according to the "4 on-the-spot" motto; to overcome the situation as the water recedes; to ensure proactive handling of situations according to actual developments.
As of 6:00 a.m. on November 22, the authorities had transferred to the communes and wards in the Eastern region the following goods: 32,858 boxes of noodles; 5,916 boxes of drinking water; 7,484 boxes of milk, more than 11,000 boxes of fish and thousands of medicines and medical supplies... The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province also received and promptly supported 6,000 boxes of milk; 1,000 boxes of candy and more than 14,000 fast food meals for people in the flood-affected areas.
According to statistics from the Provincial Civil Defense Command, from November 15 to 21, Dak Lak province experienced very heavy and continuous rain over a large area. This was the biggest flood in decades, causing severe damage.
