'A strange jackfruit tree, a peculiar jackfruit, sitting on the porch, sheltering its children.'

A jackfruit tree that grew right through the second floor of a house, bearing nearly 200 fruits from root to tip, has been attracting the curiosity of many Da Nang residents in recent days.

At a house on An Hoa 12 Street (Cam Le Ward, Da Nang City), a nearly 15-meter-tall jackfruit tree stands out in the yard with hundreds of fruits densely packed on its trunk and large branches. Particularly unusual is the tree trunk growing through the eaves and the second floor of the house, creating a rare sight.

After photos of the jackfruit tree were shared on social media, many people traveled to the location to see the "tiered" jackfruit tree with their own eyes.

The owner of the jackfruit tree, Ms. Duong Thi Xuan, said that her family planted the tree in 2010. In the early years, the tree grew well.   Normally , the tree produces few fruits. However, since around 2015, it has started bearing an unexpected amount of fruit, yielding over 100 fruits each year.

This year, Ms. Xuan counted nearly 200 jackfruit on the tree, with the highest concentration on the trunk and the first floor area.

"This jackfruit tree is a hybrid with the 'To Nu' jackfruit variety, so the fruits are of moderate size, with fragrant segments and a rich, sweet taste. Some fruits grow on the branches, looking like durians hanging down. When they ripen, our family usually picks them and shares them with relatives and neighbors to enjoy," Mrs. Xuan recounted.

According to Ms. Xuan, initially, the family only planted the jackfruit tree to provide shade and beautify the yard. More than five years ago, when they added a porch in front, the tree had grown tall, so the family decided to leave a space for the trunk to continue growing.

Unexpectedly, ever since it pierced through the second floor of the house, the jackfruit tree has grown even stronger and produced more and more fruit.

Delighted with her family's unique jackfruit tree, Mrs. Xuan even composed a poem:

" A strange jackfruit, a peculiar jackfruit."

Sitting on the porch, she wrapped her children in blankets.

But then the jackfruit mother pushed it out.

Not only is the jackfruit tree eye-catching because it grows right through the second floor of the house, but it also surprises many with its vigorous growth and the dense abundance of fruit from root to tip. For the homeowner, it's not just a fruit tree, but also a loyal friend that has been with them for nearly two decades.
