Colonel Nguyen Truong Toan, Political Commissar of Regiment 917 (Air Division 370, Air Defense - Air Force Service), said: The unit has organized two helicopter teams to drop emergency relief supplies to people in Hoa Xuan commune ( Dak Lak province), an area that is suffering heavy damage due to prolonged rain and floods.
Two helicopters participated in the mission, including Mi-171 with serial number SAR-02 and Mi-171 with serial number 8431. The flight crew was led by experienced pilots of the unit, including Lieutenant Colonel Truong Thanh Binh, Regiment Commander; Colonel Nguyen Truong Toan, Regiment Political Commissar; and Colonel Ngo Hong Son, Deputy Regiment Commander.
According to Colonel Nguyen Truong Toan, two flight crews departed from the base of the 954th Naval Air Brigade (Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa ) at 2:20 p.m. on November 22, carrying 4 tons of essential goods including food, water and other necessities to supply people in the "flood center" of Hoa Xuan. By 4:40 p.m., both flight crews completed their mission and returned to base safely.
It is expected that on the morning of November 23, Regiment 917 will continue to deploy flights to transport relief goods and emergency flights to serve people in flooded areas in Dak Lak province.
