According to a quick report as of 7 a.m. on November 23 from the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention, floods and landslides in the Central provinces killed 90 people - an increase of 18 people compared to the report at 5 p.m. yesterday.
Preliminary damage of more than 9,000 billion VND
Of which, Quang Tri had 1 death, Hue had 2, Da Nang had 2, Gia Lai had 5, Dak Lak had 63, Khanh Hoa had 14 and Lam Dong had 5.
There are still 12 people missing (Da Nang 2 people, Dak Lak 8 people, Khanh Hoa 2 people).
Regarding housing, 1,154 houses were damaged, 185,733 houses were flooded (150,000 houses in Dak Lak alone, the rest in Gia Lai and Khanh Hoa).
Currently, Gia Lai has no more flooding. In Dak Lak province, there are still 4 communes and wards of Hoa Xuan, Dong Hoa, Hoa Thinh, Hoa My that are flooded, in which many areas of Hoa Thinh and Hoa Xuan communes are still deeply flooded.
In Khanh Hoa, there are still 87 households/364 people in Dien Dien and Hoa Tri communes. In Lam Dong, there are 127 households in Nam Da and Cat Tien communes that are flooded.
In agriculture, more than 80,000 hectares of rice, more than 117,000 hectares of perennial crops, 1,157 hectares of aquaculture were damaged, more than 3.2 million livestock and poultry were killed or swept away.
Regarding traffic, National Highway 1 has been reopened to traffic. Other traffic routes have 16 locations on the national highways that are partially flooded and landslides causing traffic jams.
Currently, more than 258,000 customers are without power. Regarding communication, there are still 552 BTS stations that have lost connection and 73/301 communes and wards in Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai, Dak Lak have lost connection to the specialized data transmission network level 2 (from province to commune) due to power outage.
Initial economic damage is estimated at about 9,035 billion VND, of which Quang Ngai 650 billion VND, Gia Lai 1,000 billion VND, Dak Lak 5,330 billion VND, Khanh Hoa 1,000 billion VND, Lam Dong 1,055 billion VND.
Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa are still flooded.
Early morning of November 23, flood levels on Krong Ana River (Dak Lak), Dinh Ninh Hoa River (Khanh Hoa), and Dong Nai River (Dong Nai) are receding.
The water level at 5:00 a.m. on Ba River (Dak Lak) at Cung Son station was 31.43m, 0.57m below alarm level 2.
On Krong Ana River (Dak Lak) at Giang Son station is 424.55m, about 0.55m above alarm level 3.
On Srepok River (Dak Lak) at Ban Don station is 178.13m, above alarm level 3 is 4.13m.
On Dinh River (Khanh Hoa) at Ninh Hoa station is 5.04m, above alarm level 2 is 0.04m.
On Dong Nai River (Dong Nai) at Ta Lai station is 112.51m, about 0.01m above alarm level 2.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, flood on Krong Ana River (Dak Lak) will continue to decrease and be below alert level 3; Dong Nai River (Dong Nai) will continue to decrease and be below alert level 2; Dinh River (Khanh Hoa) will continue to decrease and be below alert level 2; Srepok River (Dak Lak) at Ban Don station will fluctuate at a high level above alert level 3.
Flooding is still occurring in provinces and cities from Dak Lak to Khanh Hoa. There is a risk of flooding in low-lying areas along the Dong Nai River in Dong Nai province.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that from early this morning to early November 25, in the Hue, Da Nang and eastern Quang Ngai provinces, there will be moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall from 60-120mm, locally very heavy rain over 250mm.
During the day and night of November 23, the eastern areas of the provinces from Gia Lai to Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong and the South will have widespread rainfall of 10-30mm, locally over 70mm.
