(Dan Tri) - Along with directing timely supplies for people, not letting anyone lack food or clothing, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of National Defense to urgently direct the production of more clothes to provide for people in flooded areas.

This direction was given by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh when concluding an urgent online meeting from South Africa, on overcoming the consequences of historic floods in some central provinces.

Regarding urgent tasks at hand, the Prime Minister requested an urgent review of isolated areas, and determined not to let any remaining inaccessible areas remain.

With the directive to "focus the most on people", the Prime Minister noted taking care of the funerals of the deceased, treating the injured and sharing with the families of the dead and missing.

On the other hand, the head of the Government directed to promptly provide supplies to the people, so that no one would lack food or clothing. The Ministry of National Defense directed to urgently produce more clothes to provide for the people, as requested by the Prime Minister.

In response to the local proposal, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Finance to immediately balance additional support for the provinces to carry out urgent work such as restoring housing for people and restoring traffic.

In particular, he proposed to balance Dak Lak with an additional 500 billion VND and 2,000 tons of rice, Gia Lai with an additional 150 billion VND and 1,000 tons of rice, Khanh Hoa with an additional 150 billion VND, and Lam Dong with an additional 300 billion VND.

"Provinces must use support resources economically and effectively, avoid waste, and prevent corruption and negativity," the Prime Minister requested.

Under the Prime Minister's direction, the army and police need to continue to mobilize maximum forces to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters; help and support people;


The Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 5, Military Region 7, divisions stationed in the area, the Ministry of Public Security, the Youth Union, the Veterans Association, etc. mobilized forces to focus on supporting house repairs and environmental sanitation for the people.

Regarding the transportation of materials and goods, the Prime Minister directed transportation from the nearest place, if necessary, using aviation, railway and other means; immediately arranging helicopters and drones to access inaccessible areas.

The Prime Minister requested to review the people who lost their houses and to complete the reconstruction of houses for the people before January 31, 2026 (before Lunar New Year). For houses that need repair and reinforcement, the local authorities calculated that they must be completed by November 30.

Regarding schools, the Ministry of Education and Training will preside over and, together with localities, review, synthesize, and have a full report before November 30, and proceed with repairing and rebuilding damaged or collapsed schools as soon as possible.

Meeting with the Prime Minister at the G20, the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) said that the organization currently has an Emergency Response Fund and is ready to mobilize resources from this fund to support Vietnam. The Prime Minister assigned Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to urgently discuss with the WHO to implement this.


Regarding traffic, the Prime Minister reminded the Ministry of Construction to direct the repair of the traffic system as soon as possible, and carry out emergency procedures to do it as quickly as possible.

On the other hand, he noted that relevant agencies should review the operation of reservoirs, and localities should study long-term, fundamental solutions such as resettlement to move people out of dangerous areas.

"People need us most in difficult times, we must put ourselves in their shoes to carry out the work," the Prime Minister emphasized.

According to the Prime Minister’s direction, all hot spots such as flooded and isolated areas must have provincial leaders present to grasp the situation and give command and direction. Localities must notify focal points and locations for receiving unified and concentrated support, so that support is systematic, orderly, and allocated appropriately and effectively.
