Ca trù continues to spread and thrive.

The 4th Hanoi Ca Tru Festival will take place over two days, September 27th and 28th, at the Hanoi Museum, organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports.

This year's festival featured 21 groups and clubs of Ca Tru singers, along with a number of independent contestants, performing 16 group acts and 105 individual entries – double the number from the previous year. The contestants ranged in age from 8 to 86, demonstrating the enduring vitality and widespread appeal of Ca Tru within the community.

This year, in addition to costumes, venue, and performance harmony, the organizers are paying special attention to the "proper manners and styles" of traditional Ca Tru art. Contestants are also categorized by age to ensure fairness in judging.

The Hanoi Ca Tru Festival 2025 promises to be an opportunity for gathering, exchange, and discovery of talented female singers, male instrumentalists, and drummers, who will follow in the footsteps of their ancestors to preserve and promote the value of this heritage.

Ca trù is a unique folk performing art form of our nation, which has long affirmed its value in the treasure trove of Vietnamese cultural heritage. Ca trù was also recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in need of urgent safeguarding in 2009.

Hanoi currently leads the country in the field of intangible cultural heritage with 131 artisans. Of these, 32 artisans in Ca Tru (traditional Vietnamese singing) alone have been awarded titles, contributing to the gradual removal of this art form from the "urgent need for protection" status.
