The Chùa Village Poetry Contest was first organized in 2007 by the Chùa Village Poetry Association – a long-standing poetry community in Hoàng Dương village (formerly Sơn Công commune, Ứng Hòa district, Hanoi ). In 2022, the Association's 40-year journey of building and developing was nominated in the "Employment" category at the 15th Bùi Xuân Phái - For the Love of Hanoi Award.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Ngo Manh Cuong, Chairman of the Chua Village Poetry Association and Head of the Organizing Committee, stated that through three editions with the theme "Poetry and Origins," the competition has attracted thousands of poems from domestic and international authors, contributing to spreading the "seeds" of compassion in poetry.

During the six months of the competition (February-August 2025), this year's contest received over 1,500 poems from more than 500 authors from Vietnam and many other countries such as the USA, Colombia, Uganda, Uruguay, Romania, etc.
The entries focused on themes of homeland, origins, history, culture, and human aspirations. All submissions were publicly posted on poet Nguyen Quang Thieu's Facebook page, creating a broad interactive space between the author, the judging panel, and the public.
The judging panel consisted of prestigious poets and writers: Nguyen Viet Chien, Dinh Thi Nhu Thuy, Pham Duong, Nguyen Ngoc Phu, and Pham Luu Vu. As a result, the organizing committee awarded prizes to 40 outstanding authors, including 3 A prizes, 7 B prizes, 16 C prizes, along with 5 Special prizes and 9 Contribution prizes. The Special prizes honored works that demonstrated resilience, while the Contribution prizes were awarded to foreign authors who contributed to poetry and friendship between nations.

According to poet Nguyen Viet Chien, the award-winning works, while diverse in style, all affirm that the homeland is an irreplaceable cultural and spiritual space, contributing to preserving national identity in the context of globalization.
Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, President of the Vietnam Writers Association, commented that the competition's theme touched the hearts of the writers, with each collection of poems being a unique voice about the land and people that nurtured their souls.
On this occasion, the organizing committee launched the poetry collection "The Sower" (Vietnam Writers Association Publishing House), a volume of over 600 pages, featuring over 500 works by more than 250 authors from Vietnam and abroad, sponsored by the Vietnam Fund for the Development of Literature and Arts.
