(CT) - According to Can Tho City Statistics, the total aquaculture area in the city for the first 11 months of 2025 is estimated at 96,104 hectares, an increase of 5.14% compared to the same period in 2024. Of this, the area for intensive pangasius farming is estimated at 935 hectares, an increase of 1.35% compared to the same period in 2024; tiger shrimp at 13,110 hectares, an increase of 8.44% compared to the same period in 2024; and whiteleg shrimp at 40,730 hectares, an increase of 5.98% compared to the same period in 2024. The total aquatic product output for the first 11 months is estimated at 656,736 tons, an increase of 11.08% compared to the same period in 2024.

By the end of 2025, the aquaculture area is estimated to reach 97,078 hectares, an increase of 0.51% compared to the same period in 2024. Total production is expected to reach 782,958 tons, an increase of 2.81% compared to the same period in 2024. The city focuses on planning aquaculture zones, paying attention to developing the cultivation of key species such as brackish water shrimp, pangasius, tilapia, and snakehead fish… Gradually applying high-tech farming models, recirculating aquaculture, automated environmental control, and cage fish farming on rivers combined with ecotourism .
