These previously unknown zero-day vulnerabilities are being exploited to the fullest in a targeted cyberattack campaign.
The unusual moves by Apple and Google highlight the seriousness of the threat. Google patched the vulnerability in its Chrome browser, while Apple updated its entire product ecosystem, from iPhones and iPads to Macs and Apple Watches.

Clues from the way the information was released suggest this wasn't a typical attack. The vulnerability was discovered by Apple's own team and Google's Threat Analysis Group (TAG) – a group that tracks high-level attackers.
Apple also used characteristic language in its warning, stating that the vulnerability "may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack targeting specific individuals"—a description often used for high-level espionage attacks.
