An explosion of emotion as fireworks lit up the sky over Da Nang.

TPO - On the evening of May 30th, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026 officially opened on the banks of the Han River. Tens of thousands of spectators were treated to a grand feast of light, music, and art with a spectacular competition between the host team Da Nang (Vietnam) and the reigning champion China.

With the theme "Nature," the first night of the competition kicked off a series of six fireworks displays taking place from May 30th to July 11th. Against the backdrop of the Han River, the teams from Da Nang (Vietnam) and China told different stories about the beauty of the green planet, the aspiration for harmony between humanity and nature, and the spirit of connection that transcends all distances. Considered a "highlight" of each DIFF season, the competition between international fireworks teams continues to bring special emotions to the audience.

Opening the competition night, the Da Nang team chose to tell the story of Vietnam's nature through a series of continuously changing fireworks displays, harmoniously combining explosive grand scenes with emotionally rich moments of quiet reflection. From the beauty of heritage sites to a message of environmental protection, the performance guided viewers on an emotional journey about the responsibility of preserving the green planet.

Innovative staging techniques and a rich, distinctive storytelling style helped the home team create one of the most impressive performances in recent years.

Meanwhile, the Chinese team continued to demonstrate why they are the reigning champions with their performance titled "Flower of the Orient".

The strengths in staging techniques, the ability to synchronize fireworks with music , and the use of modern smokeless fireworks effects created a mesmerizing performance.

The dense clusters of fireworks continuously transformed in shape and color, turning the sky over the Han River into a vibrant Eastern painting. In particular, the inclusion of the song "Vietnam's Quintessence" in the performance created an unexpected highlight, receiving continuous applause from the audience.

Thousands of spectators erupted with emotion at the impressive performances of both teams.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, stated that with the theme "Da Nang - Connecting Horizons," DIFF 2026 reflects the aspiration to build the image of a dynamic, modern city, a destination where culture, tourism, creativity, and international cooperation intersect. According to him, the fact that DIFF has been voted one of the most worthwhile summer festivals on the planet is a recognition by the international community of the attractiveness, scale, artistic value, and reach of an event that represents Vietnam on the world tourism map.
