Previously, on November 7, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Circular No. 50/2025/TT-BCT stipulating the roadmap for applying the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels in Vietnam. Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade stipulated that from June 1, 2026, unleaded gasoline must be blended into E10 gasoline for use in gasoline engines nationwide; E5 RON 92 gasoline will continue to be blended and supplied until the end of 2030.
Simultaneously, the Prime Minister issued Directive 09/CT-TTg dated March 19, 2026, on strengthening energy conservation, promoting energy transition, and developing electric vehicles. One of the tasks assigned to the Ministry of Industry and Trade is to "promote the use of E10 bioethanol, and review the conditions for early implementation of the roadmap for transitioning to biofuels in April 2026, aiming to contribute to a reduction of approximately 10% in the consumption of conventional gasoline."
To date, most gasoline retailers in the city have stopped selling traditional gasoline and switched to selling E10 bioethanol fuel. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has published a handbook on the use of E10 bioethanol fuel, providing information on its benefits, usage, and precautions for consumers.
