“Dong Ho The Su” is a folk drama performance combined with a talk show, produced by the student group “The 21st Tale” (University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi) and the Theater and Film Club of Viet Duc High School. The event targets young audiences who appreciate the interplay between traditional values and modern creativity.

The event is a gathering of scholars with creators and preservers of cultural heritage. In the talk show, folklore researcher Nguyen Hung Vi will present in-depth analyses of the layers of meaning in Dong Ho paintings, deciphering the profound satirical elements and aspirations for fertility hidden behind the simple woodblock prints.
Along with a research-based perspective, choreographer Hieu Nguyen and Dong Ho painting artisan Nguyen Huu Dao will offer a practical viewpoint.
These are concerns about how to breathe contemporary life into ancient stories, and how to keep heritage alive in contemporary life. This is an open forum where the audience can not only listen but also question and debate the journey of creating and preserving culture.
Following the talk show is a play based on the Dong Ho folk painting "The Mouse Wedding". Instead of a direct reenactment, it will combine spoken drama, body language (dance), and folk music , focusing on symbolic characters such as mice and cats to explore timeless social issues, transforming the stage into a mirror reflecting contemporary society.
Against the backdrop of Vietnam's efforts to develop its cultural industries and UNESCO's recent inscription of Dong Ho folk painting as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent safeguarding, "Dong Ho World Affairs" serves as a pilot model for heritage education through hands-on experience.

Combining folk drama, academic talk shows, and contemporary theatrical language, "Dong Ho World Affairs" is expected not only to lift folk paintings out of traditional confines but also to transform this heritage into a mirror reflecting new social issues, opening up a vibrant dialogue space for young audiences.
