Vietnamese Rock Band Brings 'Drum Rice' to American Stage

Da Ma, a Vietnamese rock band, made an impressive debut at The Viper Room in Hollywood (USA). The band covered the folk song Trong Com as an impressive introduction.

The Viper Room has been considered the heart of Rock n' Roll in Los Angeles for the past 30 years, where historic performances by Guns N' Roses, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Strokes, Oasis... In addition to new compositions, Da Ma also covers Trong Com in a modern Rock style.

In addition, Da Ma released his first double single on digital music platforms. Da Ma Thien (Yamaten) is a song with a modern Metal feel, blended with Asian materials, creating a contrast.

The band also covered Bèo đat Mây trôi , dressed in a new coat with the power of Rock, both bold and catchy. These two songs also affirm the Fusion Rock direction that this band pursues: a harmony between tradition and modernity, between folk material and the power of Metal.

In addition to music , Da Ma also wants to bring an image of Vietnamese culture. Ao Dai will become the main costume when the band appears on stage, and will be combined with other Asian fashion styles to create its own identity.

Leader Hung BlackhearteD shared: “We want to bring Vietnamese music and culture to the world , so that international audiences can feel familiar yet new melodies, bearing the unique mark of Vietnam. Rock is just a medium, but Vietnamese identity is the soul of Da Ma”.

Da Ma is expected to make strides in America with the combination of familiar folk melodies with modern musical language, between different generations of artists, and the aspiration to bring Vietnamese culture to the world.

Hung BlackhearteD - leader of the band Black Infinity, one of the familiar names in the Vietnamese Rock community. Besides Hung BlackhearteD, there are many prominent faces from Rock bands that have left their mark in Vietnam, spanning three generations of artists.

The group's name was inspired by Buddhist scriptures.

Among them, the appearance of guitarist Tran An Nguyen - son of guitarist Tran Tuan Hung, leader of the band Buc Tuong - attracted attention. The presence of Tran An Nguyen (Nguyen Tran) not only brings youthfulness, but also reminds of the tenacious and dedicated spirit of his father, who has inspired many generations of Rock lovers in Vietnam.

The full members of Da Ma include: Hung BlackhearteD (Vocal/Producer), Cao Minh (Guitar 1), Tran An Nguyen (Guitar 2), Quoc Hung (Bass), Hoang Pio (Keyboard), Tony Nguyen (Drum).
