In the second season of Road to Olympia, Phan Manh Tan (Math class, Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted) had a spectacular "comeback" to win convincingly.

The prestigious laurel wreath helped the Ha Tinh boy win a full scholarship to study abroad for 4 years in Australia. In addition to Olympia, he also won third prize in the national excellent student competition in Chemistry - a proud achievement of a school famous for its tradition of excellent students.

Before that, Phan Manh Tan was known for his passion for reading and for challenging himself through excellent student exams. In any subject from Math, Physics to Chemistry, Tan wanted to "take the exam to know where his limits are". It was this passion that brought him to the Road to Olympia and won.

Entering the journey of studying abroad, Phan Manh Tan chose to major in Information Technology at Swinburne University (Australia). In the first years away from home, his biggest challenge was the cultural difference and the completely new way of learning. “What has not been tested, what has not been overcome is what motivates me to stick with it, ” he once shared.

Thanks to his outstanding abilities, Tan was selected to study the honors program, shortening his Master's degree by one year and moving straight to a PhD in Information Technology. After successfully defending his doctoral thesis, he was invited to stay and teach and do research, but he declined to accept a job offer from IBM Corporation - the world's leading "giant" in the field of information technology.

From the position of software architect, Phan Manh Tan gradually asserted his ability, becoming a senior manager in the consulting department. He is currently the chief solution architect of digital experience in the Asia-Pacific region of HCL Software.

In the Gala program celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Road to Olympia, Phan Manh Tan reappeared, still with a gentle smile, a warm and simple voice as before. He shared emotionally: "Olympia has completely changed my life. The program gave me the opportunity to go abroad, to study my favorite subject in a friendly environment. For a young man from the countryside like me, that was really a great opportunity ," he shared.

Not only providing knowledge, Olympia also helps Phan Manh Tan practice decision-making skills.

"At work, there are projects where I only have a few minutes to make decisions that affect millions of users. Sometimes there is not enough information, I have to rely on my intuition and analytical ability. Those are things that have been forged since Olympia ," he said.

Mr. Phan Manh Tan also gave advice to young people that, in the era of technology developing at a dizzying speed, today's knowledge can quickly become outdated tomorrow. Therefore, the most important thing for each person is no longer how much they learn, but the ability to learn new things, update and adapt to the world's constant changes.

The champion of the second season of Road to Olympia married a Vietnamese student studying abroad, who used to work together in the student association. They have two lovely sons and always teach them to speak Vietnamese and maintain a Vietnamese lifestyle.

Despite many years of living in Australia, Phan Manh Tan still maintains a simple lifestyle and focuses on his homeland. He teaches his children to speak Vietnamese, preserves the customs and culinary habits of his homeland. On weekends, his family often gathers with a group of old friends, including a friend from his high school math class, to cook Vietnamese food and chat in a familiar accent.

In the eyes of his friends, Phan Manh Tan is a successful but humble person. He rarely appears on social networks or in the press, just quietly working, raising his children and occasionally participating in Vietnamese community activities.
