This is the province's political determination to improve the quality of life, protect public health and move towards sustainable development.
Determined to increase the rate of people using clean water
Over the past years, the two provinces of Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai have issued plans, projects and programs to increase the rate of households using clean water. Many solutions have been implemented and brought results such as: expanding the water supply network from urban to commune, investing in new and upgrading centralized water supply stations in rural areas, increasing the capacity of clean water plants, not granting licenses to exploit drilled wells in places where there is already water supply infrastructure. However, the development of clean water has not yet reached the set target due to the large investment capital demand, while rural people still have the habit of using self-exploited well water.
To continue improving that result, the Resolution of the 1st Congress of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, has set targets for clean water development. Accordingly, the resolution sets a target that by 2030, 92% of the urban population will have access to centralized clean water and 85% of the rural population will have access to clean water that meets standards. In the Action Program to implement the resolution, the Provincial Party Committee also identified the construction of a clean water system as one of the key tasks in the province's technical infrastructure strategy.
According to Provincial Party Committee member and Director of the Department of Construction Nguyen Anh Tuan, the construction industry is summarizing the Clean Water Supply Project of Dong Nai province for the period 2021-2025, on that basis, developing a plan for the period 2026-2030. Also according to the leader of the Department of Construction, clean water is not only an essential need but also an indicator reflecting the quality of life and a factor in protecting health and natural resources. This is also an important criterion in evaluating urban and rural infrastructure.
At present, the province is implementing many solutions to increase the rate of households using clean water. These include prioritizing resources to upgrade and expand the existing water supply system, especially in rural areas; encouraging investment in large-scale clean water projects. Along with that, the province requires businesses to apply modern technology to effectively manage the network, reduce loss, ensure water quality, and maintain the policy of supporting tap water connection for households. Localities in particular are strengthening propaganda to help people change their habits of using well water.
Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang repeatedly emphasized: Ensuring clean water for people is not only a political task, but also a social security goal. The province's desire is not to stop at 80 or 90% but that all people have access to clean water that meets standards. Complete this task as soon as possible so that people can improve their quality of life and health.
Businesses actively participate
There are currently three important sources to increase the rate of people using clean water: the State invests in rural water supply projects in some specific areas, people equip themselves with household water filtration systems and the most important source is businesses investing in developing a centralized water supply network to serve the people.
As the largest clean water supplier in the province, Dong Nai Water Supply Joint Stock Company has been implementing many projects to develop water supply infrastructure in the southern region of the province (formerly Dong Nai province) according to the Clean Water Supply Project of Dong Nai province for the period 2021-2025. In addition, the enterprise is constantly upgrading treatment technology, establishing procedures to increase the capacity of existing factories to ensure stable and quality water supply, meeting the needs of people and industrial development.
In the northern region of the province (formerly Binh Phuoc province), Binh Phuoc Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company has covered the water supply network for the old Dong Xoai city, the old Phuoc Long town and neighboring areas, providing clean water to about 46 thousand customers.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Loan, Deputy General Director of Binh Phuoc Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company, the company is implementing a number of key projects, including Nha Bich Water Plant (in the 2025-2030 period, the capacity will be 60,000 m³/day and night, after 2030, it will be increased to 180,000 m³/day and night); Phuoc Long Water Plant Upgrade Project (in the 2025-2030 period, the capacity will be 33,000 m³/day and night, after 2030, it will reach more than 61,000 m³/day and night). At the same time, the company is surveying and requesting investment policies for water supply systems for the communes: Tan Loi, Dong Tam, Thuan Loi, Phu Trung, Long Ha, Binh Tan, Bu Gia Map... to expand coverage and increase the rate of households using clean water.
Currently, many localities are also proactively implementing solutions to increase the rate of households using clean water.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Thuong, Vice Chairman of Dong Tam Commune People's Committee, said: The commune focuses on promoting awareness among people about the benefits of clean water; at the same time, taking advantage of socialized resources and national target programs to invest in and connect the water supply network to residential areas.
Mr. Bui Viet Anh, Vice Chairman of Binh Tan Commune People's Committee, said: To achieve the goal of 85% of households having clean water by 2030, the commune will coordinate with businesses to set up a project to invest in a centralized water supply system; at the same time, propose the province and departments and branches to support capital sources and have preferential policies to help people easily access, install and use tap water.
Many wards and communes have also developed plans, proactively worked with water supply enterprises, and calculated resources to invest in clean water projects. This not only contributes to improving the quality of life of the people but is also a solution to realize the goal of building a green Dong Nai, becoming a livable place.
