In early November, when the weather in the mountainous areas turns cold, Dong Van plateau ( Tuyen Quang province) enters the most brilliant buckwheat flower season of the year. On the mountain slopes, hillsides and valleys, flowers bloom in pink, purple and white carpets, creating a captivating natural picture.

Buckwheat flowers belong to the wheat family and were formerly grown by highlanders after corn for their grain for food. But over time, the delicate flower has become a symbol of the rocky plateau, bringing new life to local tourism .

Flowers usually bloom from late October to early December, when the mist rises and the winter winds begin to blow, showing off their gentle colors among the gray rocky mountains and terraced fields.

These days, along the communes of Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, Sa Phin, Lung Cu or Meo Vac, buckwheat flowers are in full bloom. Many tourists from all over flock to check-in, experience and take souvenir photos.

The vast space and endless flower carpets make anyone feel like they are lost in a fairy tale.

“I have heard a lot about buckwheat flower season, but only when I came here did I see its beauty. The color of the flowers changes throughout the day, sometimes white and pink, sometimes purple, it is difficult to describe in words. In the cold weather, standing in the middle of the sea of flowers, I feel so peaceful”, shared Ms. Nguyen Thu Hang, a tourist from Hanoi .

"I have seen pictures of buckwheat flowers many times, but when I came here, I was truly impressed. The color of the flowers changes according to the light of the day, it feels very special," said Ngoc Anh, a tourist from Hai Phong.

From early morning to late afternoon, many flower growing areas are crowded with people coming to admire the scenery and take pictures. On the roads winding around the cliffs, cars slowly roll, stopping at any place with a brilliant flower carpet for visitors to capture memorable moments.

Buckwheat flowers not only have a rustic and charming beauty but also are a testament to the enduring vitality of the people of the rocky plateau. From the arid land, the small flowers still grow to show their colors, like a warm greeting to visitors from all over.

According to the plan of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province, the 11th Buckwheat Flower Festival will open at 8:00 p.m. on November 29 at the center of Dong Van commune.

This year's festival, themed "The Blossoming Stone Land", is a provincial-level cultural and tourism activity, aiming to honor the natural beauty and cultural identity of ethnic groups, while promoting the image of friendly and hospitable Tuyen Quang tourism.

Over the years, the Buckwheat Flower Festival has become a typical and key tourism product of Tuyen Quang province, attracting hundreds of thousands of domestic and foreign tourists every blooming season.
