"Fragrance of Vietnam" by 9x designer Vu Thao Giang is the opening collection of the 2025 Tourism Ao Dai Festival.
The collection is inspired by the sophisticated embroidery knowledge of craft village workers, from the brocade weaving art of the Tay, Nung, Thai, Dao ethnic groups..., where each thread is a story, each pattern is a whisper of the mountains and forests; from Quan Ho folk songs, Ca Tru, Xam singing, Cheo singing to the practice of Then singing, Tinh lute... Vu Thao Giang has "heard" the heartbeat of heritage and transformed them into visual language on each Ao Dai flap.

“I was born in the heart of the mountains and forests of the Northeast, where cultural values are not found in books but in every breath. I want each of my designs to be a ‘cultural ambassador’, bringing Vietnamese heritage closer to the world ,” Vu Thao Giang shared.
The “Fragrance and Beauty of Vietnam” collection uses soft velvet silk combined with lace, brocade and satin materials. Each dress is a story, a symphony of materials, where the past and present blend in a modern spirit.
As a Tay ethnic designer of the 9X generation, Vu Thao Giang has chosen a very unique path for herself: Bringing regional identity to the catwalk. For her, fashion is not only for beauty but also for storytelling, for extending the cultural memory of the nation through each stitch.

Her name is associated with collections rich in identity such as "Vietnam Brocade": Honoring the beauty of heritage through double-sided printing and embroidery techniques, "Northeast Breath", "Vietnam's Fragrance", "Heritage Colors", designs that recreate the cultural space of the highlands.
Recently, she also launched “Golden Imprint” and “Prajna”, inspired by royal architecture, mosaic ceramics and traditional motifs, expressing the spirit of fusion between classical and modern.

Not only making an impression domestically, Vu Thao Giang also aims to internationalize Vietnamese ao dai. Every time she appears on major catwalks such as the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival or the program "Song Cau - Source of Heritage" with a catwalk in the middle of the river nearly 60 meters long, she impresses the audience with her storytelling through materials and emotions. In 2022, Vu Thao Giang received the "Outstanding Tourism Product Design" award at the Conference on Linking Tourism Development in Ho Chi Minh City and 8 Northeastern Provinces - a testament to the journey of turning fashion into a bridge connecting culture and tourism.

Vu Thao Giang was also invited by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to participate in the "Cultural Essence" section (in the 2025 Autumn Fair), the theme she chose to display in the exhibition and trade space was "Fragrance of Vietnam".
From highland brocade motifs to stage lighting, from folk songs to modern tailoring techniques, Vu Thao Giang has done what many people dream of: turning heritage into fashion, turning the Vietnamese ao dai into a common language of national beauty and pride.
