On the evening of November 8 at the Hoan Kiem Theater, the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra brought to the capital's audience a special program Dvořák & Rachmaninov: The Masterpieces of Slavic Romanticism under the baton of Russian conductor Yury Tkachenko and a piano solo by young Korean artist Suah Ye.

Opening the program, Sergei Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 sounded like an intense narrative of the artist. From the very first chords, the audience seemed to be silent before Suah Ye's thick, resonant and bright piano. She recreated Rachmaninov's characteristic "ringing bell" effect - a sound that is both tragic and powerful.
In the slow movement, Suah Ye showed sensitivity and delicate control, and in the final movement, there was an explosion of energy and confidence, making the audience express admiration many times. At only 24 years old, the female artist from Korea surprised the audience with her solid technique and strong energy, completely recreating the spirit of Rachmaninov's "resurrection" - from the dark melancholy to the light of faith.
Conductor Yury Tkachenko's controlled yet emotional leadership energized the Hanoi Orchestra: close coordination, even sound and harmonious, standard volume.

In the second part of the program, Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 From the New World takes listeners on a journey through time and space that is both Bohemian and reflective of late 19th-century America - open, liberal, and full of life.
The familiar melodies are both solemn and passionate, evoking a sense of journey from home to new lands. In the fast movements, the orchestra displays precision and youthful spirit; the largo movement, with its delicately handled cor anglais, evokes a deep sense of nostalgia; the fast movements are energetic. Under Tkachenko’s sure guidance, this dramatic and challenging work is presented coherently and emotionally.

The combination of international artists and artists of the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra shows the spirit of integration and the desire for innovation.
The concert ended with the triumphant sound of Dvořák’s final movement – a confirmation of the new vitality of the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was not only a meeting of two romantic Slavonic masterpieces but also a testament to the persistent efforts of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, showing an orchestra reaching higher standards.
The combination of international artists and the young force of the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra shows the spirit of integration and the desire to innovate, bringing classical music closer to the art-loving public.
