This is the third time that Labor Hero Ho Quang Cua's ST25 Rice brand has won the world's best rice award, after winning first place in 2023 and 2019 at international competitions.
ST25 rice is the result of many years of research, selection and improvement of varieties by engineer, labor hero Ho Quang Cua and his colleagues. Since the 1990s, his group has begun to breed new rice varieties under the ST brand ( Soc Trang ). Over the years, the ST3, ST5, ST10, ST20, ST24 rice varieties have been born, creating the foundation for the development of the ST25 variety.
ST25 is a hybrid of many different rice varieties, inheriting the outstanding advantages of the parent varieties, the rice grains are long, white, and not chalky. When cooked, the rice is just sticky, fragrant with pandan leaves and young rice, and has a rich sweetness. Even when cooled, ST25 rice still retains its stickiness and characteristic flavor, factors that help conquer domestic consumers and the international culinary world.
Mr. Ho Quang Cua said that being continuously named in international awards is a testament to the efforts to improve the quality of Vietnamese rice and the value of farmers' labor. He said that this title also helps the "High Quality Rice of Vietnam" brand to reach further, expanding opportunities to enter demanding markets such as the US, Japan, Europe and Australia.
The fact that ST25 continues to be named in the highest position once again affirms Vietnam's capacity to research and breed high-quality rice varieties on the world rice map.
