Shining on a new front

The economic model of veteran Nguyen Dinh Tiep, Trung Chinh commune, gives high income.

To be worthy of the title of Uncle Ho's soldier, each cadre and member of the Veterans Association determines that learning and following Uncle Ho's example must be done regularly and continuously, through exciting emulation movements and specific actions related to daily life. For veteran Bui Duc Thuan, Party cell secretary, head of the front work committee of Dong Thinh village, Hoang Loc commune, with more than 30 years of association, he has always devoted all his heart and mind to the work of the village. "That is not only the duty of a veteran or a Party cell secretary, but also a debt of gratitude to the land that gave birth to and raised me," Mr. Thuan confided.

Using one's own example to mobilize and lead others to follow is the most effective way. Because if people believe, no matter how difficult the task is, they can do it, but if people lose faith, even the smallest task cannot be done. With that idea, Mr. Thuan and the Party cell and the front working committee of Dong Thinh village have taken advantage of the State's support resources, at the same time aroused the solidarity strength of the people to mobilize contributions to build cultural houses, roads, sports grounds, renovate the village pond, build a drainage system..., making Dong Thinh village a model new-style rural village in 2022.

Having been involved in the village's work for many years, the most precious thing for Mr. Bui Duc Thuan is that the people trust him and assign him important responsibilities. Since then, the "fate" has lasted for more than 30 years and although he has held different positions such as village chief, village party cell secretary, head of the village front work committee..., in any role and in any period, he has always been enthusiastic and devoted to the common work.

For veteran Nguyen Dinh Tiep of Trung Chinh commune, learning and following Uncle Ho's example must be demonstrated through concrete actions and practical actions. Therefore, he always maintains the enthusiasm of a soldier to strive to rise up, becoming a typical example in local economic development. Since 2000, veteran Nguyen Dinh Tiep and his family have contracted 4 hectares of ineffective rice land of the commune to implement a fish-rice model, combined with raising livestock and poultry... After 5 years of good livestock development, veteran Nguyen Dinh Tiep borrowed a large amount of capital to reinvest in the farm for high agricultural production.

After learning from experience in many places, veteran Nguyen Dinh Tiep re-planned the pond area to raise fish. Taking advantage of the land fund around the pond banks, he planted thousands of coconut trees and other fruit trees. On the remaining land, he built a sow and pork farm and installed an air-conditioning system, biogas tank, and wastewater treatment tank to ensure environmental hygiene. In addition to raising pigs, veteran Nguyen Dinh Tiep and his family also raise a variety of chickens, ducks, and goats for breeding... To help the animals grow and develop well, he hired a veterinary officer to monitor and care for the animals according to the correct technical process. Thanks to that, veteran Nguyen Dinh Tiep's farm is very effective, bringing in billions of dong in income each year.

In order for learning and following Uncle Ho to be deeply ingrained and widely spread in each association and each member, the association has developed programs and implementation plans. Every year, each association registers specific actions following Uncle Ho's example in conjunction with local emulation movements, creating positive changes in the awareness and actions of cadres and members. In particular, the movement "War veterans help each other reduce poverty and do good business" has aroused comradeship, team spirit, solidarity and the will to overcome difficulties and rise up in each war veteran. Thanks to that, the number of well-off and rich members in the province is increasing, the number of poor members is decreasing. In the past 5 years, the whole province has had 3,132 war veteran households escape poverty, 2,746 war veteran households become well-off and rich, thereby reducing the rate of poor war veteran households in the whole province to 1.88%, the rate of well-off and rich war veteran households increased to 60.14%.

Implementing President Ho Chi Minh's teaching "Educating the next generation of revolutionaries is a very important and necessary task", the Provincial Veterans Association has coordinated with the Provincial Youth Union to implement the joint program "Strengthening the training of revolutionary ideals, accompanying young people to establish their careers, take the initiative in building and defending the Fatherland". In the past 5 years, the Veterans Association at all levels has coordinated with local youth unions to organize 1,522 traditional talks with 288,145 union members, youth, students and pupils participating. With knowledge, experience and practical experiences, through each specific story, the Veterans have diligently cultivated revolutionary ideals, helping them to perceive history more clearly through stories of real people and real events, thereby arousing national pride and responsibility of the youth towards the country.

The movement of following Uncle Ho's teachings to practice thrift has also been widely deployed throughout the province. Accordingly, each cadre and member saves 2,000 VND/month (24,000 VND/year) to contribute to the fund to build "Comradely Love" houses for poor members. From this fund, over the past 5 years, the whole province has built and repaired 486 houses, with a support amount of more than 23 billion VND and nearly 30,000 working days from members.

With many outstanding contributions in implementing emulation movements from the province to the grassroots, Thanh Hoa War Veterans Association cadres and members have affirmed that, on any front, they are always shining examples for future generations to learn and follow, worthy of the tradition of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers".
