Agribank accompanies the groundbreaking ceremony of 4 Lao Cai border boarding schools and gives gifts to disadvantaged students

On November 9, 2025, in Muong Khuong commune, Lao Cai province, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 4 inter-level boarding schools in border communes of Lao Cai province and presented gifts to disadvantaged students there. The Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) was honored to accompany the program.

Lao Cai is one of the locations across the country to hold groundbreaking ceremonies for primary and secondary boarding schools, aiming to improve the quality of education in mountainous and border areas.

Previously, in order to implement Resolution No. 298/NQ-CP dated September 26, 2025 of the Government, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 1478/QD-UBND dated October 16, 2025 approving the list of special public investment projects for 4 primary and secondary boarding schools in A Mu Sung, Y Ty, Muong Khuong and Pha Long communes.

According to the approved project, the scale of the schools invested in construction on a land fund of 6.2ha - 8.6ha ensures teaching and learning conditions for 980-1,200 students/school, with a total investment of 945 billion VND for 4 schools. All 4 boarding schools are designed in a modern way, but still bear the strong imprint of the local ethnic identity, with synchronous investment from classrooms, headmaster's house, dining hall, boarding house, official housing for teachers, multi-purpose house and other essential infrastructure.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra presented 200 gifts to 200 disadvantaged students in Muong Khuong, Pha Long, Y Ty and A Mu Sung communes, encouraging them to overcome difficulties and strive to excel in their studies. At the same time, on the upcoming Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, the Deputy Prime Minister also presented gifts to Muong Khuong Kindergarten, Muong Khuong commune, showing deep concern for the teachers and students in the highlands.

On this occasion, Ms. Phung Thi Binh - Deputy General Director of Agribank, donated 4 computer rooms worth 1 billion VND to 4 schools in the communes of Muong Khuong, Y Ty, Pha Long and A Mu Sung. The new computer rooms will help students access technology, contributing to supporting the implementation of digital transformation in teaching and learning in mountainous and border areas with many difficulties.

Lao Cai is a mountainous border province in the north, with a 182 km long border adjacent to Yunnan province (China) with 9 border communes and wards. More than 90% of the population in the border communes are ethnic minorities, and their lives are still difficult. Therefore, education in the highlands is a field that needs special priority. The whole province currently has more than 1,000 educational establishments with nearly 500,000 students, including 17 ethnic boarding schools, 182 semi-boarding schools, with nearly 65,000 students enjoying support policies from the State. Thanks to the attention of the Central Government, the determination of the entire political system and the efforts of the teaching staff, the quality of education in Lao Cai is increasingly improved, ranking among the leading groups in the northern mountainous region.

However, the learning and living conditions of students in the highlands and border areas are still lacking; many places still lack classrooms and boarding houses, and the living conditions of teachers and students face many difficulties. Therefore, the groundbreaking of the construction of 4 inter-level boarding schools in the border communes of Lao Cai province is a great joy, creating a new milestone in the education career of the highlands on the journey of national development; contributing to improving people's knowledge, training human resources, and nurturing talents for the future.

In the past two months alone, Agribank has spent over 70 billion VND to support the construction of houses, repair schools, medical equipment and civil works damaged by storms and floods; at the same time, giving thousands of essential gifts to households in flooded areas. In parallel, Agribank has also implemented many preferential credit policies such as reducing interest rates, debt suspension, debt extension and production recovery loan packages to help people overcome difficulties soon.
