Clay is a characteristic soil of the region, with a yellowish-brown color and high plasticity. After being dried, ground, and mixed, the clay becomes smooth and pliable, ready for the shaping process.

After shaping, the products are air-dried naturally before being placed in the kiln. The pottery firing process in Gia Thuy still retains the traditional method, using firewood as fuel.

Gia Thuy pottery products have their own unique characteristics, created from a mixture of three different colored clays: green, brown, and yellow. Having been involved in the traditional pottery craft for over 40 years, Mr. Dinh Quang Ha (Gia Tuong commune) said that in the early days, the pottery products of the village were mainly plain designs such as jars, vases, pots, and ceramic tiles...

In recent years, to meet the market demand for artistic decorative products, each pottery artisan has gradually become an artist, creating unique patterns on products such as paintings of the four seasons, lotus flowers, and rural landscapes. Not only is it a traditional craft village providing a stable income for the local people, but today, Gia Thuy pottery village has also become a famous craft village exploration destination in Ninh Binh.
