Promoting the value of revolutionary traditional education from historical relic sites

Tay Ninh – the land considered the “Resistance Capital of the South” – not only preserves the vestiges of a glorious time, but is also a priceless spiritual treasure of the nation. Bases such as the Central Office of the South or the Southern Regional Party Committee and the Southern Resistance Administration Committee still echo with the breath of history, becoming a lively “revolutionary school”, inspiring and fostering patriotism for many generations today and tomorrow.

Journey to the "headquarters" of the Southern revolution

In the midst of the historic October days, the delegation of cadres, lecturers and students of the non-concentrated Advanced Political Theory class K75.B08 from localities, 2024-2026 course, Regional Political Academy II had the opportunity to return to Tay Ninh - the sacred land where the golden pages of the Southern resistance history were written.

This is not only a land rich in patriotic traditions, but also a vibrant space of hundreds of historical and revolutionary relics, notably the Southern Central Bureau Base; the Southern Regional Party Committee Base and the Southern Resistance Administration Committee...

Each relic is a "red address" marking the arduous but glorious years, where the will, intelligence and mettle of the Southern army and people converged in the two long resistance wars for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

The field research delegation of the Advanced Political Theory Class K75.B08 of localities, course 2024-2026, Regional Political Academy II offered incense at the relic site of the Southern Regional Party Committee Base and the Southern Resistance - Administrative Committee.

Tay Ninh – a land of outstanding people, located in the center of the Southeast. During the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, this place was considered the “Resistance Capital of the South”, where historic decisions were made for the fate of the Southern revolution.

The Southern Regional Party Committee and Administrative Committee - Resistance in the marshland of Dong Thap Muoi was considered the "Viet Bac of the South" in the resistance war against the French. During the period 1946-1949, this place was the nerve center of the "Southern Resistance" movement, where the first agencies of the Southern revolutionary government were born, such as: Southern Resistance Radio Station, the National Guard Photography Group of Zone 8 and the main units 307, 404, 120,...

This place also marks the feats of our army with famous battles against colonial invaders, the most typical being the Moc Hoa battle in 1948 - a victory associated with the names of Uncle Ho's soldiers of Battalion 307 and Regiment 120, famous throughout the country. Comrades Le Duan, Pham Hung, Ton Duc Thang, Hoang Quoc Viet, Tran Van Tra, ... lived and commanded here, under the protection of the people of Dong Thap Muoi region.

The Southern Central Bureau Base, located in the middle of the Chang Riec – Rum Duon jungle, was the highest leadership body of the Party in the South for 15 years (1961–1975). Here, many historic decisions were passed, contributing to the complete victory of the Southern revolution. This place bore the footprints of comrades Le Duan, Pham Hung, Nguyen Van Linh, Vo Van Kiet… – people who devoted their whole lives to the cause of national reunification. The thatched houses of the loyal army, secret tunnels, Hoang Cam kitchens, and small meeting halls in the middle of the deep forest today have become vivid evidence of a time when “cutting across Truong Son to save the country”.

In 2012, the Southern Central Bureau Base was recognized as a special national monument. The Southern Regional Party Committee and Administrative - Resistance Committee Base were ranked as national monuments in 2007 and in 2023, nearly 130 billion VND was invested for comprehensive restoration. Two relics - two historical periods - but with one common value: the will to independence, the spirit of solidarity and absolute loyalty to the revolutionary ideal. Both have become vivid "revolutionary schools", where each generation today can find inspiration and lessons for the journey of building the Fatherland.

Profound educational values from revolutionary relics

Historical sites in Tay Ninh not only preserve artifacts and memories, but also convey lasting cultural, ideological, ethical and humanistic values – “lessons not found in books” for generations of Vietnamese people.

First, historical and political value.

Each relic is a vivid testament to the Party's wisdom and mettle during the war. The small bunkers, the bamboo table, the map, the radio... all tell the story of a bloody time, where the Vietnamese people steadfastly overcame bombs and bullets to protect the ideal of independence. Visiting the relics, cadres, party members and people can "relive" history, understanding that the victory of the Southern revolution was not only the result of strategic talent, but also of strong belief and the aspiration to unify the country.

Second, ethical and humanistic values.

The life in the deep forest of the Central Office of the South or the Southern Regional Party Committee is a testament to the spirit of diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality and selflessness. Each item, the Hoang Cam kitchen, the secret bunker reminds us of the simple, steadfast qualities and the close comradeship and solidarity in the midst of hardship. That is also the foundation for the formation of the "culture of revolutionary affection" - a characteristic of the people of the South, where loyalty, faithfulness and patriotism are honored through every page of history.

Third, the value of educating the young generation.

For today’s youth, learning about tradition is not only reviewing history, but also learning how to live, how to think and how to act. The programs “Journey to the Source”, “Traditional Classroom”, “Tay Ninh Youth with the Southern Central Bureau Base” have turned the relic sites into “revolutionary schools in the middle of nature”. When experiencing directly, listening to stories, offering incense in gratitude, the young generation clearly understands that today’s peace was exchanged for blood and bones, which then instilled in them pride, the will to rise up and the desire to contribute.

From these values, the relic sites in Tay Ninh are not only places to commemorate the past but also spaces to nurture patriotism, civic responsibility and belief in the path of national development in the new era.

Promoting the value of relics in the present stage

In recent years, Tay Ninh has made significant efforts in preserving and promoting the value of revolutionary relics. A series of exhibition items, traditional houses, documentaries, and simulation models have been built; many activities such as "Returning to the source - Following the footsteps of heroes", "Journey of gratitude", admitting the Youth Union - Party at the relics, etc. have attracted a large number of young people, students and pupils to participate. However, in reality, there are still many limitations: educational activities are sometimes formal, not attractive to young people; facilities are not uniform; explanatory content lacks interaction and connection with school education.

In order for relics to truly become "living historical education centers", it is necessary to synchronously implement new directions:

Firstly, raise awareness and responsibility of all levels and sectors. Promoting the value of relics must be considered a political task, associated with building a comprehensively developed Tay Ninh people, with knowledge, ideals and ethics.

Second, innovate the traditional form of education. Instead of just visiting and listening to explanations, it is necessary to switch to a creative, interactive experiential learning model. The application of virtual reality technology (VR/AR), multilingual audio systems, QR codes for information lookup, etc. helps to make learning history more vivid and attractive.

Third, combine relic preservation with the development of cultural and historical tourism. Tay Ninh can develop the tour “Following the footsteps of the Central Office of the South”, connecting famous destinations such as Ba Den Mountain, Tay Ninh Cao Dai Holy See, Dau Tieng Lake, etc. to create educational tourism products, contributing to economic development and spreading the spirit of “remembering the source of drinking water”.

Fourth, promote the role of the young generation in preserving and spreading the value of relics. In particular, establish clubs "Youth with revolutionary heritage", organize contests "I love my hometown relics", "Journey in the footsteps of heroes", ... encourage young people to create media content (videos, podcasts, historical infographics) to "bring relics to digital space".

Fifth, strengthen cooperation and experience exchange between Tay Ninh and localities with rich revolutionary relic systems such as Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, etc. to share effective management, exploitation and education models.

Those solutions, if implemented synchronously, will help relic sites not only be places to preserve memories, but also be important "soft resources" in human development, fostering patriotism, and arousing the desire to contribute to the homeland and country.

In the middle of Chang Riec forest today, the sound of the wind seems to echo the oath of generations of soldiers: "Even if we have to sacrifice, we will never let the Fatherland fall into the enemy's hands." Each revolutionary relic in Tay Ninh is a "historical witness" reminding today's generation to live up to the great sacrifice of their fathers and brothers.

Promoting the traditional educational values from those relics is not only an act of gratitude to the past, but also a way to connect the past with the future, lighting the flame of patriotism and the aspiration to rise up in the heart of every Vietnamese person./.
