What's special is that the album doesn't have a title. The singer shared about her journey of establishing her own path and her aspiration to bring the most sincere sounds to listeners.
- Khánh Thy used to be a student specializing in mathematics, and no one in her family was involved in the arts. What turning point led Khánh Thy to pursue a singing career?
- My decision to pursue art was a difficult one, both for myself and my family. My parents are civil servants, neither of them working in this field, so they weren't supportive at first. I studied mathematics and took the science-based entrance exam, but after much thought and discussions with people in the profession, I realized that my personality and energy were more suited to art. My father, being dynamic and involved in various movements, gradually understood and supported my chosen path. From then on, I officially entered the world of music , late but with great determination. I also found that my mathematical thinking helped me a lot in studying music, making career decisions, and planning my future.

- What does the Hanoi Singing Contest mean to Khanh Thy?
- The Hanoi Singing Contest is where I was discovered and nurtured. Through the competition, I fulfilled part of my dream, received attention from the audience, and gained recognition from artists. Winning third prize provided a stepping stone for me to release my debut album "Okay, I'll Get Married" and then Vol. 2. Hanoi Radio and Television Station - the organizer of the competition - has been a constant companion throughout both albums, providing a platform that helped me reach a wider audience.
- Khánh Thy, how do you think your singing voice and musical career have developed since participating in the competition?
- I think I've reached a certain level of maturity in technique and emotion, and I'm confident in recording albums. Initially, I sang instinctively, with raw emotion; after experiencing happiness, suffering, success, and failure, I sing more softly, femininely, and profoundly. Thanks to the guidance of teachers like People's Artist Ha Thuy, Ngoc Dung, and Dang Loan, my voice has been refined and developed its own unique style. I'm always learning and improving to enhance my singing, using life experiences to interact with music and touch the hearts of listeners.
I believe music is a long journey. Each artist chooses a different path. I don't seek breakthroughs through gimmicks, but rather delve into my voice and genuine emotions. My wish is to create quality products, so that the audience recognizes my talent. I like ballads, songs with stories to tell. In a noisy market, I want to bring listeners back to gentle, tranquil emotions.
- Khánh Thy, could you introduce your new album, Vol. 2 - a special album without a specific title?
- Vol. 2 consists of 11 love songs that evoke youth, nostalgia, and the gentle hidden corners of a woman's soul. I don't want to name the album, because each listener can call it by their own feelings. For me, this is a tribute to those who have loved, who have experienced the misty seasons of memories with music. This is also my artistic declaration: Khánh Thy's music is not bound, but aims for freedom and diversity.
- Why does the album feature music from many generations of composers, from timeless classics to contemporary compositions?
- Because I want to connect with multiple generations of audiences, from those who love deeply emotional lyrical music to young audiences seeking something new. Album Vol. 2 includes works by Minh Ky, Lam Phuong, Truong Sa, Anh Bang, and compositions by Duc Tri, Viet Anh, Phan Manh Quynh, and Hamlet Truong. This diversity creates a continuous emotional flow, from nostalgia to modernity, so that the album is both classic and relevant to today's audience.
- People's Artist Nguyen Quang Vinh, Chairman of the Hanoi Music Association, commented that Khanh Thy's voice is "unadulterated," not relying on technology or gimmicks, but rather simple and genuine. What does Khanh Thy think about this, and does she want to maintain that quality?
- I appreciate the comments of People's Artist Quang Vinh. For me, "without oil or grease" means a simple, natural voice, unadorned or industrialized. I want to maintain that sincerity, singing with genuine emotion. I hope that listeners, whether hearing my recorded album or singing live, will recognize Khánh Thy's voice. I want to be a voice that is loved and trusted, that can tell stories through music, and that dares to experiment without losing my identity.
- Khánh Thy, could you share a little bit about your upcoming plans?
- I've been dreaming of making an album about Da Lat, my birthplace and the land of gentle love songs, which suits my style. I'm also currently investing in Vol. 2 with 11 music videos synchronized with the music as a gift to my audience. I will continue to learn, maintain the simplicity and genuine love in my music to go further.
- Why did Khanh Thy release two albums in just two years?
- For me, music is a continuous flow. If left unfinished for too long, the audience might forget. Each product is the culmination of great effort, and I always ask myself what I will do next. That drive helps me move forward, working seriously and carefully on each product.
- Thank you very much, singer Khánh Thy!
