A female teacher with a passion for electrical engineering.

In the bustling workshop of the Electrical Engineering Department (Lao Cai College), filled with the sounds of running machines, the image of a petite female lecturer diligently guiding students through each technical operation has become familiar. This is Ms. Tran Thi Hong Hoa, Deputy Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at Lao Cai College, who has persistently pursued her passion for electrical engineering for nearly 30 years – a field often considered dry and challenging.

Ms. Tran Thi Hong Hoa, Deputy Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at Lao Cai College, is passionate about researching the field of electrical engineering.

Many people believe that the electrical engineering field is associated with strenuous work, high precision requirements, and is only suitable for men. However, with her love for the profession and perseverance, Ms. Hoa has proven that women can absolutely succeed in the field of engineering if they have passion and determination.

One afternoon in the workshop, nearly 20 students were attentively assembling a model of a household electrical system. Ms. Hoa gently went from table to table, checking and adjusting each small detail for them, then softly offering suggestions: "Please double-check this wiring to see if it's safe," "Absolute accuracy and safety are essential in electrical practice, students..." These simple reminders are also the principles that Ms. Hoa has always pursued throughout her teaching career.

Teacher Tran Thi Hong Hoa uses visual aids and research models in her teaching.

Nearly 30 years of teaching is the same amount of time that Ms. Tran Thi Hong Hoa has dedicated her heart and soul to the teaching profession. Beyond teaching, she has also diligently conducted scientific research, exploring new methods to improve the quality of electrical engineering training for students. For her, a teacher in the modern era must constantly innovate to keep pace with the realities of production.

Sharing about her work, Ms. Tran Thi Hong Hoa confided: "During my career, I've come up with innovative ideas almost every year. These are the experiences and research that I and my colleagues have compiled, creating the most optimal solutions and methods in teaching."

To help students easily access knowledge and apply it immediately to practice after graduation, during the past academic year, Ms. Hoa and her colleagues compiled the textbook "Installation, Maintenance, and Repair of Domestic Electrical Systems". This book is the culmination of many years of accumulated practical experience and dedication to the profession from her and her colleagues.

The textbook "Installation, Maintenance, and Repair of Domestic Electrical Systems," edited by Ms. Tran Thi Hong Hoa, helps students access knowledge more easily.

The curriculum is designed in a detailed and visually engaging way, covering everything from basic to advanced knowledge. Besides providing technical guidance on installing and repairing electrical systems, the materials also emphasize teaching learners how to use materials efficiently, save energy, and raise awareness of environmental protection.

When asked what she appreciated most about this curriculum, Ms. Hoa said: “The curriculum provides very detailed and specific instructions, enabling learners to firmly grasp the basic to advanced knowledge of domestic electrical systems. From there, they learn how to save materials and improve their environmental awareness.”

For electrical engineering students, visual models make lessons easier to understand. Therefore, in every class, Ms. Hoa always tries to strike a balance between theory and practice.

For her students, Ms. Hoa is not just a lecturer, but also an inspiration. Many were initially hesitant, thinking that electrical engineering was difficult and dry, but thanks to her approachable teaching style, they gradually grew to love the profession they were studying. Ms. Hoa recounted that once, a female student asked her, "Isn't it too difficult for a girl to study electrical engineering?" She replied, "Every profession has its own difficulties. What's important is whether you love the profession or not. If you're passionate, you'll overcome the challenges." Her concise answer encapsulated the entire journey she herself had experienced.

Commenting on Ms. Hoa's contributions, Mr. Pham Duc Binh - Vice Principal of Lao Cai College - affirmed that she is a very enthusiastic lecturer in the work of compiling teaching materials. In particular, her textbook on the installation and repair of domestic electrical systems has been officially included in the curriculum for electrical engineering students, yielding very good practical results.

Ms. Tran Thi Hong Hoa's enduring contributions have been deservedly recognized with a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister – a prestigious award for her tireless efforts in vocational education . But for her, the greatest reward is the growth and development of her students. Those once clumsy students in the practical workshop are now skilled craftsmen and confident electrical technicians working in factories and businesses both within and outside the province.

Ms. Tran Thi Hong Hoa "ignites" a passion for the electrical engineering field in generations of students.

The image of the female teacher lingering in the workshop late in the afternoon to check each piece of equipment is proof of her passion for the profession. Her love for her work, her creative spirit, and her dedication to each lesson are the driving forces behind Ms. Tran Thi Hong Hoa's continued journey of "inspiring" generations of electrical engineering students at Lao Cai College.
