Over 300 athletes compete in badminton tournament in Ho Chi Minh City

On the afternoon of November 9, the Ho Chi Minh City Open Badminton Tournament for middle-aged and elderly people and age groups 2025 for the first time competing in the Mizuno Cup ended after 3 days of exciting and vibrant competition at the Gymnasium of the Phu Lam Ward Cultural and Sports Service Center.

Dai Nam Dental Club excellently won first place overall.

The Organizing Committee awarded 22 sets of medals and cash prizes in 9 age groups to the athletes who won first, second and third prizes. Dai Nam Dental Club won first prize overall with 12 gold, 10 silver and 5 bronze medals; Robot Club won second prize (4 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze) and Nhan Tran Club ranked third (3 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze).

The tournament was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Badminton Federation, in response to the Campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" for the period 2021 - 2030 and "Action Month for the elderly in Vietnam in 2025".

This year's tournament gathered more than 300 athletes from 18 units, belonging to clubs in Ho Chi Minh City such as: Robot Club, Nhan Tran, Tien Sport, Dai Nam Dental Clinic, An Dong Ward Sports and Cultural Service Center, Tay Thanh Ward...

Athletes competed in three categories: Men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles with 9 different age groups from youth to middle-aged and elderly, demonstrating the spirit of health training, exchange and development of the mass sports movement.

Mr. Nguyen Phuong Nam, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Badminton Federation, said: This tournament is a traditional playground that has been maintained for many years. This year, the tournament has expanded to include the youth age group from 18-30, creating opportunities for exchange and connection between the middle and elderly generations from 31-70 years old. The tournament is increasingly organized professionally, with larger scale and quality, the image and organization are improved, helping athletes have more motivation to compete, receive worthy rewards, contributing to the development of the badminton movement more and more sustainably.

Athlete Vinh Duc (Robotics Club), competing in the 66-70 age group, shared that he has been involved in badminton for many years because he loves the rhythm, flexibility and health benefits that this sport brings.

Through the tournament, the Organizing Committee hopes to create a useful playground, contributing to promoting the badminton training and competition movement, improving the health of middle-aged and elderly people; at the same time, strengthening the spirit of solidarity, exchange, and experience sharing between generations, clubs, and units. The tournament also contributes to continuing to affirm the attention of society, all levels and sectors for the elderly, spreading the spirit of "living healthy - living happily - living usefully" to the community, contributing to promoting the badminton movement in Ho Chi Minh City to become more widespread and sustainable.
