The high price of Arabica coffee has created a driving force for Robusta prices to remain stable, as roasters around the world are shifting to using Robusta instead. In addition, storms during the harvest season in Vietnam have affected output, contributing to the sharp increase in domestic coffee prices.

In Gia Lai’s key growing areas such as Chu Prong, Ia Grai and Dak Doa, the harvest atmosphere in early November became bustling. Farmers were excited because this year had a good harvest, and coffee prices were at a record high. Groups of people were busy picking, drying and transporting coffee, creating a vibrant picture for the Central Highlands in the golden season. Many farming households said that with the current selling price, their profits had improved significantly compared to previous years, helping to offset the increased costs of fertilizer and labor.

In Dak Lak, many temporarily unemployed workers have not yet found new jobs because they are waiting for the coffee harvest – the time that brings the best income of the year. The demand for seasonal workers has increased sharply, especially in coffee growing areas, causing the wages for coffee pickers to increase significantly.

According to experts, Robusta coffee supply is facing many difficulties due to the impact of harsh weather in major producing countries such as Brazil. Heavy rains, droughts and climate fluctuations have reduced production, increasing pressure on the supply chain. In this context, Robusta coffee prices have remained high as roasters and businesses are forced to find more stable alternative sources, in which Vietnam has become an important destination thanks to its large production capacity and increasingly improved quality.

Along with the supply problem, global coffee consumption is still growing strongly, especially in emerging countries and developing economies. The widespread habit of drinking coffee, combined with the trend of consuming convenient instant products, has created additional momentum for coffee prices to continue to rise.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in the first 10 months of 2025, Mexico emerged as Vietnam's fastest growing coffee export market. Export value to this country increased 34.7 times compared to the same period last year, and in the first 8 months of the year, turnover even increased 90 times. Figures from the Customs Department show that in the 2024-2025 crop year, Mexico imported more than 37,600 tons of Vietnamese coffee, worth 195.2 million USD, an increase of more than 16 times in value compared to the previous crop.

The Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa) considers Mexico a market with great potential, as up to 80% of households in this country consume instant coffee, a product line produced mainly from Robusta beans, of which Vietnam is the world leader in exporting.
