Specifically, according to statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in October 2025, Vietnam exported 19,430 tons of pepper of all kinds; of which black pepper reached 16,464 tons, white pepper reached 2,966 tons. Total export turnover reached 129.5 million USD, compared to the previous month, export volume decreased by 5.2%, turnover decreased by 5% and compared to the same period in 2024, export volume increased by 5.1%, turnover increased by 7.7%.
The average export price of black pepper in October reached 6,443 USD/ton, white pepper reached 8,392 USD/ton; compared to the previous month, the price of black pepper decreased by 47 USD/ton, while the price of white pepper decreased by 185 USD/ton.
By the end of October 2025, Vietnam had exported 206,427 tons of pepper of all kinds; of which black pepper reached 176,577 tons, white pepper reached 29,850 tons. Total export turnover reached 1.39 billion USD; of which black pepper export turnover reached 1.15 billion USD, white pepper reached 244 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, the export volume decreased by 5.9%, but the export turnover still increased by 25.4%. The average export price of black pepper in 10 months reached 6,628 USD/ton, white pepper reached 8,683 USD/ton, up 36.6% for black pepper and 34.4% for white pepper compared to the same period in 2024.
The United States remains Vietnam's largest pepper consumer market with an output of 44,262 tons, accounting for 21.4%; down 29.4% over the same period in 2024. The following export markets are the UAE with 17,304 tons, accounting for 8.4%, up 18.8%; China with 16,567 tons, accounting for 8%, up 79.1%; India with 11,370 tons, accounting for 5.5%, up 20.6% and Germany with 10,198 tons, accounting for 4.9% and down 25.8% over the same period in 2024. Some other markets also have increased export volumes such as Thailand (29.1%), Poland (23.7%), Türkiye (10.3%), Egypt (4.2%), South Korea (2%)...
On the other hand, by the end of October 2025, Vietnam had imported 37,783 tons of pepper, including 32,226 tons of black pepper and 5,557 tons of white pepper; total import turnover was nearly 237 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, import volume increased by 32.1%; turnover increased by 804%. Brazil is the largest pepper supplier to Vietnam, reaching 18,481 tons, up 105.0% over the same period, accounting for 48.9%. Next is Cambodia with 9,705 tons, up 45%, accounting for 25.7% of the market share; Indonesia reached 6,946 tons, down 32.5% and accounting for 18.4% of the import market share.
According to VPSA, Vietnam is still holding the world's No. 1 position in pepper exports, however, the industry is also under considerable competitive pressure from Brazil. Data from the Brazilian State Center for Foreign Trade Statistics (Comexstat) shows that by the end of October 2025, Brazil had exported a total of 70,198 tons of pepper, with a turnover of 435.7 million USD, up 32.5% in volume and 89.7% in turnover over the same period last year. The average export price for 10 months reached 6,207 USD/ton, up 43.2% over the same period in 2024.
Brazil’s pepper crop in 2025 is forecast to increase by 20% compared to 2024, reaching 90,000 tons thanks to favorable weather conditions and increasing new planting areas. In addition to increased production, Brazil also has an export advantage due to a weak domestic currency and competitive logistics costs amid rising demand from European and Middle Eastern markets.
Regarding cinnamon, by the end of October 2025, Vietnam had exported 99,463 tons, with a total export turnover of 249.5 million USD, compared to the same period in 2024, the export volume increased by 25.1% and the turnover increased by 13.2%. The main export markets of Vietnamese cinnamon include: India, the United States, Bangladesh, UAE and China. On the contrary, in the past 10 months, Vietnam also imported 3,574 tons of cinnamon, with a turnover of 8.6 million USD, compared to the same period in 2024, the import volume decreased by 3.7% and the turnover decreased by 4.6%. Vietnam imports cinnamon mainly from Indonesia and China.
