The "Sword Dance" performance by students at the training class
Ms. Nghiem Thi Minh Hang, Head of Exhibition and Propaganda Department (Museum of Cultures of Vietnam's Ethnic Groups) said that traditional dances such as Flag dance (Sêu cay), Sword dance (Mú kem), Bird dance (Tết noc lau), Lamp opening dance (Mù ết tăng), Season praying dance (Mú cau mu), Liu Ba dao dance in the royal court (Mú Lau slam Lài tao chieu mun), Soọc công (Shrimp picking dance), Pong loông (Com pounding dance)... have become the pride of the San Chay ethnic group (Cao Lan group).
Identifying the values of San Chay ethnic folk dance (Cao Lan group) as a type of cultural heritage that needs to be preserved and promoted in the life of the Cao Lan community, from November 6-15, the Museum of Cultures of Vietnam's Ethnic Groups in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang province organized a training program on Building a model to preserve and promote traditional folk dance of the San Chay ethnic group (Cao Lan group) in Phu Luong commune, Tuyen Quang province.

Performing the "Flag Dance"
The training course was attended by 50 artisans and students of the San Chay ethnic group (Cao Lan group) living in 6 villages of Man Hoa, Tan Phu, Dong Xay, Hai Mo, Dong Chua, Cay Thong, An My, Phu Luong commune. The oldest student is over 58 years old and the youngest student is 16 years old, including 15 students of Dai Phu Secondary School. The students were directly taught by People's Artist Sam Van Dun and 4 folk artists who are knowledgeable in the art of San Chay folk dance and singing (Cao Lan group), guided in practicing the performance, drum rhythm, name and meaning of each dance.

Performing the dance "Dove"
Although the students are of different ages, different environments, and different approaches, they all share a passion for the folk dance art of the San Chay ethnic group (Cao Lan group).
With the enthusiasm and dedication of the artisans, most of the students have memorized and can perform many traditional folk dances with pride in the unique cultural heritage of their nation. Thereby, traditional culture is always preserved, practiced and promoted in the spiritual and cultural life of the people at the grassroots level.

The dance "Praying for a good harvest" performed by students participating in the training class
Ms. Nghiem Thi Minh Hang emphasized that the program of Building a model to preserve and promote traditional folk dance of the San Chay ethnic group (Cao Lan group) in Phu Luong commune is an activity that contributes to effectively promoting the investment resources of the state, society and community in the work of preserving and promoting the good traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in general and the folk dance art of the San Chay ethnic group (Cao Lan group) in particular. Thereby, the artisans have the opportunity to pass on the traditional cultural heritage of the Cao Lan ethnic group through dances and folk art performances to the community, especially the young generation.

"Lighting" dance performed by artists and students
Hopefully, when returning to their hometowns, the artisans will continue to pass on and inspire the younger generation, and the students of Dai Phu Secondary School will continue to practice the dances they have been taught to become the core of establishing a folk dance club in schools. Students need to regularly practice dances and folk art performances, contributing to preserving and spreading the cultural heritage values of the San Chay ethnic group (Cao Lan group) in contemporary life.
