Difficult first half for Vietnam team
In the final match of 2025, the Vietnamese team stepped onto the Laos national stadium with a very strong squad. Coach Kim Sang-sik placed his trust in Dang Van Lam in goal, protected by the trio of central defenders Xuan Manh, Duy Manh and Tien Dung.
The biggest surprise was that Le Van Do was given the right wing position while Truong Tien Anh had to be on the bench. It seems that Mr. Kim hopes that the understanding between him and Quang Hai (who played as a right wing striker in this match) at Hanoi Police Club will help Van Do create a breakthrough on the right wing.
In this match, Hoang Duc played with Thanh Long in the middle of the field, showing the Vietnamese team's intention to play an aggressive attack, in which Cao Pendant Quang Vinh was instructed to move up quite high, and when needed, move a bit inside to support the defense.

In the attack, Tien Linh played the highest position and Van Vi continued to be arranged by Mr. Kim as a left forward. It can be seen that the coaching staff of the Vietnam team had a very clear approach: to play dominantly and win convincingly against the opponent who had lost to us 0-5 in the first leg.
The Vietnamese team spent most of the first half playing in the home team's half, controlling the ball very well, but encountered many difficulties on the slippery and bumpy pitch. Meanwhile, the Lao team was very persistent in sticking to the ball, fighting fiercely and having quite sharp long-ball counter-attacks.
Xuan Son makes an impressive comeback
After the first half created many opportunities but could not score, coach Kim Sang-sik sent Xuan Son onto the field at the beginning of the second half, increasing firepower with Tuan Hai, Gia Hung and Hai Long, supported by the pair Quang Hai - Hoang Duc controlling the midfield.

That terrible pressure paid off when the Lao defender let the ball touch his hand after Tuan Hai's sprint. At the 11m mark, Xuan Son did not give the Lao goalkeeper any chance, unleashing a powerful shot to open the score 1-0 for the Vietnamese team in the 68th minute.
This goal was the key point that completely changed the game, when the Vietnamese team played more freely with a completely new attack while the home team Laos showed signs of fatigue, with many players continuously lying on the field with pain.
In the final minutes, the Vietnamese team tried hard to find another goal. But the strong fighting spirit of the home team Laos must be commended. Despite their declining physical strength and injuries, they still did not give up, determined to find an equalizer.
Tuan Hai shined with 1 goal and 1 assist.

With his relentless efforts and a beautiful volley, Tuan Hai marked a great day for himself with the goal that sealed the 2-0 win for the Vietnamese team. He had previously assisted Xuan Son in winning the penalty.
With the final result of 2-0, the Vietnamese team has completed the final preparations for the penultimate round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. Coach Kim Sang-sik will be more confident when looking at Xuan Son heading to the decisive match with Malaysia in March next year to compete for a ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup.
