On November 22, 2025, the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 2 Branch, will open the Exhibition "Vietnamese Currency - Journey along the flow of national history" at its headquarters at 8 Vo Van Kiet, Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
This is the first time a large collection of Vietnamese currency – more than 1,500 artifacts – has been widely introduced to the public in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the organizers, the exhibition aims to help viewers look back at the nation’s history through a special material: the story of money. Each banknote, coin, promissory note or voucher reflects the economic and social life, historical context and cultural values of each period.
Through that, viewers can feel the country's development journey, as well as the perseverance, simplicity and resilience of the Vietnamese people throughout history.

Displaying more than 1,500 artifacts from 1875 to present
The exhibition introduces groups of artifacts ranging from Indochina money; Financial banknotes – “Uncle Ho” banknotes (1945–1954); National Bank of Vietnam money (1951–1975); Vietnam Bank money from 1975–1978; to State Bank of Vietnam money from 1975 to present.
Besides that, there are coins, bills, vouchers,... and polymer money in circulation.

Many artifacts are considered to have special value, being historical "witnesses" reflecting economic changes and the process of building the Vietnamese financial and banking system over the past century.
The exhibition is open free of charge on weekends, from November 22, 2025 to the end of April 2026, for visitors aged 14 and over. The event is expected to attract collectors, researchers, people interested in the field of finance and banking, as well as young people who love national culture and history.

The exhibits are arranged neatly and scientifically around the inside of the State Bank headquarters building, very convenient for public visits.
In addition to artifacts, visitors can experience digital content and VR technology through interactive screens:

The exhibition is held on the ground floor of the State Bank headquarters building, Region 2 branch - a French architectural work built in the period 1929-1930, inaugurated in 1931. The work is currently proposed to be considered for recognition as a national historical relic.

Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Lien, Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 2 Branch, said the exhibition hopes to bring the public a clear view of the history of Vietnamese currency, thereby arousing pride, patriotism and awareness of the value of national economic and financial stability.
The event is also part of a series of activities to celebrate major holidays and towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Bank of Vietnam (May 6, 1951–May 6, 2026).
