Designer Song Toan has made surprising revelations about the plain white ao dai, a design considered "the most difficult to sew", that the Miss Huong Giang has chosen to wear for the National Costume competition at Miss Universe 2025.

Sharing with reporters about Huong Giang's national costume on the afternoon of November 19, designer Song Toan said: "The plain white ao dai is the most difficult type of ao dai to sew because it easily reveals the wearer's flaws. However, with many years of technique and experience, we have completed a white ao dai that "fits" Huong Giang's body to the millimeter.

Huong Giang has the perfect body measurements like a mannequin, so the design was made in one go without any adjustments. We completed the outfit in 1 day," designer Song Toan revealed.

The designer expressed great surprise because before the competition, Huong Giang's team had contacted her to order a white ao dai but did not clearly state the purpose or context of wearing the costume. Before the National Costume competition, when Huong Giang shared a picture of herself wearing a white ao dai for this competition, designer Song Toan just found out.

Compared to the elaborate and elaborate National Costumes that take a lot of effort and expense to complete, Huong Giang's white Ao Dai design is considered by many audiences to be much "cheaper".

Designer Song Toan refused to reveal the price of the design because he believes that "plain white ao dai is considered a heritage of the Vietnamese people, and the costume has a higher cultural symbolism when the price is not announced."
