Over 100 athletes to compete in 2025 Asian Esports Championship

On November 20, Can Tho City People's Committee coordinated with Vietnam E-Sports Entertainment Association to organize the opening ceremony of the 2025 Asian E-Sports Championship (ECA 2025).

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, delivered the opening speech.

The tournament took place from November 20 to 22, with the participation of over 100 athletes and referees from 7 Asian countries, including: China, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. The athletes officially competed in League of Legends, CrossFire and the performance sport is Stepin.

At the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Van Khoi informed that the 2025 Asian E-Sports Championship is an attractive and healthy playground, opening up opportunities to promote the development of the cultural and digital entertainment industry and enhance international cooperation, promote the image and potential of Can Tho city as a dynamic and creative land, where tradition and modernity intersect. Hosting the tournament will contribute to spreading the message "E-sports is a bridge of culture, creativity and integration in the digital age", inspiring careers and innovation to the young generation; attracting investment from technology corporations and international enterprises to Can Tho and Vietnam.

Athletes compete in CrossFire.

Can Tho has actively prepared facilities, technical infrastructure, security, traffic safety, health care, communication, tourism promotion and cultural exchange to contribute to the success of the tournament. Through the tournament, Can Tho hopes to contribute to spreading the image of a dynamic, integrated, friendly city; connecting the continental e-sports community, promoting cultural exchange, promoting Can Tho tourism to international friends.

Representatives of Jeju City (South Korea) received the flag to host ECA 2026.

According to Vice President of the Asian E-Sports Federation Do Viet Hung, Can Tho was chosen to host the 2025 Asian E-Sports Championship because it has many outstanding advantages, located in the center of the Mekong Delta, possessing modern sports and tourism infrastructure and a riverine identity imbued with Western culture. The city is also a place where tradition and modernity, culture, technology and hospitable people intersect. Therefore, Can Tho becomes an ideal destination for an Asian-scale e-sports tournament - where athletes demonstrate their talents, create cultural bridges, promote tourism and inspire creativity among young people.
