The 24th Vietnam Film Festival will officially take place from November 21 to November 25, 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City. With the slogan "Vietnamese Cinema - Sustainable Development and International Integration in the New Era", this year's Vietnam Film Festival not only honors outstanding cinematographic works but is also an opportunity for filmmakers, artists and the public to look back on the development of Vietnamese cinema in the period 2023-2025, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party. This is also the occasion to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the formation and development of the Vietnam Film Festival (1970-2025) - a half-century journey marking the strong growth of Vietnam's revolutionary cinema.

Sharing at the press conference, Deputy Director Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy said that the 24th Vietnam Film Festival is the country's leading prestigious film event, an opportunity for the City's audience to immerse themselves in the brilliant cinematic atmosphere, meet and interact with creative talents, and enjoy works imbued with national identity and rich in humanity. Especially in the context of Ho Chi Minh City being recognized by UNESCO as a "Creative City of Cinema", at the same time marking the 55th anniversary of the Vietnam Film Festival (1970-2025).
This year's Vietnam Film Festival has the participation of more than 800 guests including many artists, film producers, distributors, distributors, film organizations, film and media companies with competing films and films screened at the festival, along with many international delegates and diplomatic representatives.
The Opening Ceremony of the XXIV Film Festival will officially take place at 8:00 p.m. on November 21, at the Thong Nhat Hall (135 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). The Organizing Committee will distribute 1,500 free invitations to the audience on the morning of November 21 at Lam Son Park (in front of the City Theater).

During the 5 days of the Film Festival, the public will be able to watch free films (including Panorama Program films and competition films) at three large cinema complexes: Galaxy Park Mall - 4th Floor, Park Mall Shopping Center, 547-549 Ta Quang Buu, Chanh Hung Ward; CGV Hung Vuong Plaza - 126 Hong Bang, Cho Lon Ward; Cinestar Hai Ba Trung - 135 Hai Ba Trung, Saigon Ward. In addition, at Galaxy Nguyen Du Cinema (116 Nguyen Du, Ben Thanh Ward), there will be a screening and interaction with the film crew "Red Rain". This is also the opening feature film for the 24th Vietnam Film Festival in 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Within the framework of the Film Festival, there will be events such as: Seminar "Developing the film industry in the new era" to discuss solutions for developing the Vietnamese film industry, applying new technology, building a professional and unique ecosystem. Workshop "Current situation and solutions to attract film crews to localities" to help improve professionalization, promote the country's image, connect investors, directors, film crews at home and abroad.
In addition, the photo exhibition "Ho Chi Minh City grows with the country through a cinematic perspective" from November 21-25, introduces more than 200 images of people, life, the process of innovation, integration and development of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City through many stages, helping the public understand more about the historical and cultural context through the lens of cinema.
Activities take place within the framework of the 24th Vietnam Film Festival.
At the press conference, Mr. Dang Tran Cuong, Director of the Department of Cinema, said that this year's Vietnam Film Festival has selected 144 outstanding films from 42 units. The competition program includes 16 feature films, 36 documentaries, 14 scientific films and 21 animated films. Along with that, 57 films of various genres are included in the Panorama Film Program.
The new point of this year's Vietnam Film Festival is the appearance of programs to promote and develop local cinema... At this series of events, localities will work directly with domestic and international film crews to introduce the potential, landscape, natural conditions, preferential policies and film production environment of the locality; meet and exchange with international experts, producers and consultants on building a strategy to develop the local film industry.
The Closing and Award Ceremony of the Film Festival will be held at the Military Theater Auditorium at 8:00 p.m. on November 25, 2025 and will be broadcast live on HTV.
A special highlight this year, in addition to the traditional categories for works and individuals, this Film Festival also has a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism for "The unit that distributes the most Vietnamese films from 2023-2025" and honors Vietnamese individuals with special contributions to the development and promotion of Vietnamese cinema; foreign individuals with special contributions to the development and promotion of Vietnamese cinema.

Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong emphasized that with the slogan "Vietnamese Cinema - Sustainable Development and International Integration in the New Era", the 24th Vietnam Film Festival is not only a place to honor excellent cinematographic works, but also affirms the mettle and aspiration of Vietnamese cinema in the journey of deep integration with the world.
According to Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong, the strategy for developing cultural industries, which was recently approved by the Prime Minister on November 14, 2025, is the foundation for Vietnamese cinema to set stronger goals in terms of quality and market. The Film Festival not only reviews films, but also creates a space for exchange and experience sharing between artists, production units, and distributors, promoting cinema to become an important cultural industry.

Also at the press conference, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong informed that in order to share the difficulties and losses of the people in the Central region affected by floods, each activity at this Vietnam Film Festival will have a QR code of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee for artists and audiences to attend to express their hearts towards their compatriots.
With close coordination between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, this year's Vietnam Film Festival promises to bring a unique artistic space, spreading the love of cinema, contributing to promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to international friends./.
