The ceremony to send off the Vietnamese sports delegation from the Southern region - Ho Chi Minh City to participate in the 33rd SEA Games aims to motivate and encourage athletes and coaches from the Southern region before leaving for the Games.
Before the departure ceremony, Mr. Tran The Thuan - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City - represented the delegates, athletes and coaches in offering flowers to President Ho Chi Minh at the President Ho Chi Minh Monument Park.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Nam Nhan - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City - shared: "Each athlete stepping onto the field not only carries the red flag with the yellow star, but also carries the expectations of millions of Vietnamese hearts, carries the hopes of the people of the southern provinces, carries the indomitable spirit, chivalry and aspiration to rise up of the land of the Fatherland.
We deeply believe that, with serious preparation, strong direction from the industry, support from localities, and most importantly, with the mettle, will and dedication of the athletes, the Vietnamese sports delegation in the Southern region will achieve high results, compete beautifully, contribute and confidently shine at the 33rd SEA Games."

The 33rd SEA Games will take place in Thailand with 55 sports and 274 medal events. The event is expected to welcome more than 12,500 athletes, making it one of the largest events in history.
At the upcoming SEA Games, the Ho Chi Minh City sports delegation in particular will contribute 258 athletes and 59 coaches, participating in 37/45 sports of the Vietnamese sports delegation. Southern provinces such as Dong Nai, Can Tho , Tay Ninh, etc. also have significant contributions to the Vietnamese sports delegation this time.
At the departure ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - awarded the departure flag to the Vietnamese sports delegation in the Southern region - Ho Chi Minh City, encouraging the competitive spirit of the entire delegation at the upcoming 33rd SEA Games.
