During the night of the great flood, the cry for help amidst the swirling black water seemed to tear at people's hearts, urging the rescue team to set out, echoing in the ears of local people and those far from home during sleepless nights.

The floodwaters were so terrifying, surging like a waterfall in an instant, leaving tens of thousands of families unable to react. The water rose hour by hour, inundating everything from tables and chairs to beds, cabinets, windows, doors, and even the roofs. Thousands of people chiseled metal sheets and tiles and climbed onto the roofs, sitting and calling for help amidst the floodwaters.

Mrs. Tich (68 years old), living in Tuy Phuoc commune ( Gia Lai ), said that in her life, she has never seen a flood that big and rise so fast. From 2am on November 20, the old lady screamed because the water rose so fast, the whole family ran away but did not know which way to escape.

Luckily, the rescue boat arrived in time to pull the four people in the house out of the floodwaters. "I have never seen such a big flood. Just a big storm, now a big flood, what a tragedy. Now all the chickens and ducks are dead, only one person escaped alive!", Mrs. Tich said.

Opening his phone to review dozens of screenshots of people's calls for help posted on social media, a leader of the Traffic Police Department of Gia Lai Province Police said that the rescue forces were working to the point of overload but still could not handle all of them, so they had to prioritize areas with deep floods and people in real danger.

Meanwhile, an officer of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Gia Lai Province Police said that the constant calls at midnight following the rising water level almost burned out the machines; the police, army, militia... rushed out to fight the water enemy to rescue people in the terrifying hours of this historic flood.
